Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all! I'm possibly going down the IMS retrofit road. I have an '03 996 with 72k miles on it. Rear main seal was done already. Clutch replaced 1.5 years ago. Previous owner didn't get the IMS done with the clutch....whoops... I was wondering if there were any independent guys on this forum that would be able to do the retrofit. I'm looking for a cheaper install price rather than the typical $1000 the shop charges. I'd be willing to throw some beer in during the entire install process if that helps! Maybe a nice steak dinner to offset the cost of the install . 10 oz Filet mignon with goat cheese, veggies, and a Caesar salad I just need someone with the knowledge and tools to be able to conduct this job. It's kind of a long shot but that's what this forum is for, right?!?! Anyways, PM me if you think you'd be able to help a brother out I'm active duty navy if that helps....call it a military discount...?! Just got married on November 29th and I'm paying for the entire wedding so we're pinching pennies right now. Any little bit helps. Let me know!! Thanks in advance!

I would highly recommend a reputable indy shop as supposed to a stranger messing with your $10-15k engine. Seems too much risks to me and quite a bit of liability to that person too....Just my $.02

Take a trip to LA County and see Callas Rennsport, they are the only Certified Installer in California. Tony co- instructs classes with me and is super methodical, he follows our directives verbatim.
