I know for sure that I will continue to remain active on RL as my passion for learning and discussing our cars will help fill the void that now exists in my soul.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am sad to post to my RL family that my beautiful wife of 38 years passed peacefully Friday evening after battling her 3rd unique cancer in 3 years+. Leslie ("Les") was the only girl I've ever loved and in fact the only girl I've ever even dated. We met by accident in Ithaca, NY on Cornell's campus on 2/16/80 and it was mutual "love at first sight". Unfortunately she flew back to Texas the next day as she was attending the University of Texas at Austin. I called my parents that day and told them I met the girl I was going to marry. I visited her a month later in Austin on my spring break and decided then to transfer from Cornell to UT. Departed Cornell's campus in June, 1980 and drove my 1978 Chevy Caprice to Austin (consuming 16 quarts of oil on the drive) and the rest is history. We got married in 1983 and have 2 lovely grown daughters.
My wife was as strong and tough as they get, yet throughout her years of inhumane cancer pain she never treated anyone without the utmost respect and dignity, even when she was at her worst physically. Every nurse who ever treated her said they wished all their patients were as nice as she was. Even before she passed she contacted her doctors and thanked them for whatever additional time their care provider her. She taught everyone that knew her how to die with dignity.
Some of our best moments the past 2 years have involved drives in our 996, windows down, sunroof open, music we love playing loudly. Whether it was to her chemo/radiation treatments, doctor visits, or just taking drives on the backroads for the sake of getting her out of bed, she always had a smile on her face and she never said "Slow Down!"
To honor my wife please do something nice for someone else, even a total stranger. A random act of kindness can help both the recipient and the giver.
I very much hope in the near future to put faces to some of the RL names I have come to know and respect. This forum has been instrumental in getting me through the past few years. It, and taking drives, have been my sole distractions from being Les's 24/7 caregiver while also working from home.
Hug and kiss your loved ones.
Marty
Incredibly sad to hear, my heart goes out to you and your family. Having lost family members to cancer, it's truly sad how it can take over some of the most amazing people we know and love.
Both her, and you alike, sound like amazing people and I'm sure those same qualities will follow suit with your daughters. Wishing you all the best, continue to remember the good times, after all, that's what makes this crazy world worth it.
Im so sorry to hear about this.
In early June I met you and your wife at Bucks County Exotics.
I remember thinking how great it was that she traveled with you to the event.
And also how nice it was to meet both of you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Phil
Marty,
Very sorry about your loss. Your wife, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Glad you had over 40 years to spend with the woman you love. That's a blessing in itself.

Marty,
My condolences to you and your daughters. Les’ suffering has ended and yours will pass. You were blessed and her gift to you is infinite. You remind me that I can do better demonstrating my gratitude to the love of my life, each day. There’s never enough time for that!
Mike
So very sorry for your loss. It does sound like you had a wonderful life together, and that time together will always bring you fond memories. Everyone should hug their wives and family today.
So sorry for your loss, Marty. May her memories stay with you strong and happy; please reach out if you ever just want to talk, share a story or just have someone present to put a hand on your shoulder.
Best,
Joby
Sounds like she was a wonderful woman and you both enjoyed each other's company very much. There really are no words to help make things better for you right now but hang in there and lean on your family and friends.
So sorry for your loss, my father, who was my best friend and mentor and my father in law both passed of cancer. I only got to spend 6 weeks with him in the end. Sounds like your beloved wife really fought hard. Shes in a better place now. We dedicated the rosary tonight to your family. Luis in Texas.

Marty my condolences to you and your family, I am approaching 35 years with my beautiful wife I recognize how wonderful it is to have a long time partner, we try to make new memories together each and every day may your fond memories console you in this difficult time. My sincere condolences to you my friend, Marty. I will be celebrating my 25 anniversary with my wife this year and can't fathom taking this journey in life without her. I know how terrible cancer can be on a family. Both my mom and sister fought breast cancer this past year. My mom beat it with chemo, but I buried my sister last February. We've had a tough time since she passed, but each day we can breathe a little more and rejoice in the memories I had growing up with two sisters. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

. Sending my condolences to you and your daughters. I'd be happy to accept your challenge to honor her memory. It has been a long time since my wife and I have put together some living kits for homeless people, I'll start grabbing some supplies to put some more together. If you're ever in Vegas send me a PM. I'd love to meet you(r 4.0 stage II.) :P.
Marty, your tribute to your amazing wife Les has touched this total stranger.
Even in your grief, when it might be rightfully expected that others should uplift you, it is you, Sir, who has uplifted others. I'm sure Les would be (or perhaps more accurately,
is
) proud.
I can not tell you just how appreciative I am of all the kinds words, including several private messages that I received. Loss of a loved one, even when it's a drawn out process and not a sudden shock out of the blue, changes one's perspective on many aspects of life. I know for sure that I will continue to remain active on RL as my passion for learning and discussing our cars will help fill the void that now exists in my soul.
