Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My mechanic who replaced the AOS forgot to reconnect the line into the air pump. I'm still short a clip, but anyways.... I have reconnected it, but I have a CEL light. I NEED to get emissions done as they suspended my reg since I didn't do it yet. All stats are good and will pass except this secondary AIS issue, which is resolved now. Am I better resetting the CEL and driving until the counters clear or will this one clear up on its own? Edit....mis-typed codes: P0491/92

POST 2Original post

Regardless of whether you clear the code, you need to check for emissions readiness using an OBD-II reader. If this was my car, I'd clear the code, check for emissions readiness, and keep driving a mix of in-town and highway miles until the car shows ready for emissions testing.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, I will clear the codes and wait for emissions readiness. I've had so many issues lately from misfires, to bad AOS and now a stupid mechanics error. Frustrating to say the least... thank you!

POST 4Original post

Good luck with the smog test and getting your registration renewed.

POST 5Original post

Just drive it normally with some local and highway traffic and the readiness codes should be all set in a few days. The SAI readiness should set pretty quickly as long as you have a few cold starts. The cats and evap readiness usually will take the longest to set.
