Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

What is annoying is I just did the trans fluid flush and filter change and did not think to check the vb first because I didn't know this kit existed.

A *flush* is a bad idea; a *change* that includes a filter is proper maintenance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've purchased the TransGo kit for the 5hp19 -
https://transgo.com/product-details/...ulator-repair/
I have a 99 c4 tip coupe and am getting code p0740. What is annoying is I just did the trans fluid flush and filter change and did not think to check the vb first because I didn't know this kit existed.
So before I go do this job again I was hoping to find some more info before I rip into it. I can't seem to find any definitive information, some things state I have a 5HP19HL trans in this, there is also the 5HP19FLA.
I found this blurb from one site also selling the TransGo kit:

Should this work in the 99 C4 tip w/o issue?
Fluid change is generally a bad idea? It was 100% running on original filter and fluid and is a regularly scheduled maintenance. If you're thinking "flush" as in one of those "transmission shops" where they actually push fluid through it - no I didn't do that nor ever would, ha.
Surging/lurching, minor gearbox whine, plus the p0740.
What I need to know is that if the specific 99 5hp19 trans is compatible with this kit.
here's the first page making sure you ID the vb first to see if it has the notch. Which I did not do when I just did the fluid change because, like I had mentioned, didn't know this kit existed.
FWIW - I can simply just re-do the trans fluid job but, you know, would rather not have to waste all that time.
I just got off the phone with TransGo - they have no info on a 99 specific 5hp19 - they say it works for a 2000+ for the audi/vw so I'm hoping it's the same. Suppose I'll just do it and report back.
Welp. An unfortunate update -
The 1999 vb is the early 5hp19 one, Version 1 E17. So the TransGo kit will not work with a 1999.

I called our local distributor - the part is ~$65. You need the reaming tool... the tool is $979 + shipping & tax.

Supposedly a new vb is $945 though inventory was unknown or if it's actually available anymore.
Any suggestions?
Is that even possible to just simply swap in the 2000MY vb on the version 2 5hp19?
From what I gathered, it doesn't seem so, but I could be wrong...
Edit - Just called Sonnax - they just want to sell me the parts and say there's absolutely no other way to do it. Which is what I figured. Though the tool does seem to be cheaper elsewhere.
