Disconnect both links from the bar.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can the rear sway bar drop links be changed lifting the designated lift points where a "puck" would go, or as Pelican says just roll up some newspaper if you don't have a puck? Or does the suspension need to be compressed, i.e., by jacking up the lowest part of the rear suspension, I've seen other terms life engine case, transverse support etc.?

POST 2Original post

Yes, but if you're installing adjustable drop links, they should be adjusted with the suspension under load. Easiest way to do this is to drive it up on ramps... They should be adjusted so there is no load on the sway bar at rest (make sure the car/ramps is/are on a fairly level surface.

POST 3Original post

I did mine on a four post lift with the wheels on the ramps, so driving onto ramps would be the easiest. Without the suspension compressed it may be harder to get the links connected. Disconnect both links from the bar. Remove bushing covers and bar. Disconnect links from the shocks. Install in reverse.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 6Original post

The shock end requires a 17mm open end. The nut is welded to the shock .

For the rears that's correct. On the stock links you usually need to hold the link side with an open end regardless...
