Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

About a couple miles from my house I started to smell oil and thought it was the beater truck in front of me so I kept driving. Got to a stop light and as I began to pull away I saw white smoke (not thick) and the oil smell reappeared. While driving like everyone else I didn't notice the smell or see the smoke. If I get on it a bit, the smoke reappeared. Got home to find the attached images of a leak. I'm new to P-cars and my jack and jackstands aren't here so I cannot get a better look. Anyone have any ideas? I had the IMS solution and AOS done in August if that helps. Also I never got an oil warning or saw the pressure drop. Thanks in advance, awaiting any ideas while I chew my finger nails to nubs...

Looks like your cam cap/plug has been blown out !!! I would advise to check your engine blow-by and AOS... see this post.. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...w-by-test.html

Thanks for the help, I did notice that recess was clean inside, not like the rest of that area. I assume I should fix the cam plug first? Time to start digging.

POST 6Original post

Looks like that plug has been leaking for a while before it decided to "exit stage left". I will be easier to install the new one from the engine compartment.

My thoughts exactly. Once I get the new plug in I'm going to give it a nice steam bath.

Thanks. Seems like an easy fix at least. Part was $5.00.

Oh nice! That's not bad! I haven't had mine out in a couple weeks. For some reason they have started salting over here in STL
