Porsche is my daily driver, here is the 4 door my wife drives, thinking of selling it to buy a new IS 350 or used Panamera S!

My C4S is my daily driver, although I use the term loosely since I work from home.

My wife drives a Lexus GX470 that I use when the Porsche won't work for what I'm doing.

Suggestion
I'm not delighted to have it flayed by both the Virginia sun and the Car-B-Gon spread so liberally on the roads, but my Triumph Bonneville and my 2002 C2 coupe fill my half of the garage.

Suggestion
I was close to buying a 09' Quattoporte last summer, then I realized that using a Maserati of that vintage would be a poor choice for a winter vehicle here in Minneapolis, even if it had seat heaters.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, I purchased a 2001 C2 Lapis Blue/Grey a few months back and love it. It is my 2nd car. My other is a 1987 BMW 325. Thinking of getting a Cayenne soon
What does everyone have as a second car or do you daily drive your Porsche? Or do you have another Porsche?
Looking forward to your responses!
No second car...the 996 is it...every day. So was my 993 and RS America and 308 GTSi. When/if I need something else I rent it.
My wife has a nice little 2002 C230 coupe. Original owner, now has 38,000 miles, she has no intention of selling it as she hates buying and selling cars.
Other then the pair of 911's my primary car is a 05 Cayenne Turbo, it's been great and still feels new, bit of a pig on gas but probably going to keep it for another 5 years. Just need to replace tires and do regular oil changes and it may need some rotors and pads soon otherwise it very reliable.
I have a Volvo XC90 turbo, a GMC Sierra, and an old Kawasaki Cafe racer as alternates.
Before I bought the Porsche I was really into V8 powered BMW cars.. If I ever didnt need a truck for hauling motorcycles around I would totally be back in a 7series as a daily driver..
Other cars, 07 mini Cooper S daily,
95 M3 for SCCA solo in STU,
2000 F250 Super duty 7.3L for towing race stuff.
two Rotax powered SODI karts (For Sale).
2001 BMW 740iL. Bought it for the wife about three years ago, but she lost confidence in it after a couple of years. Bought her a Lexus RX330 and took over the BMW. Now we're both happy
I have a Caddy SRX for sloppy weather/ski trips and crowds. Before my "incident" I would have referenced "winter", but my 996's Garage Queen days are over.
My 99 996 911 is my daily driver. My wife's car is a 2007 Mini Cooper. She uses that for the daily grind and we use it for hauling all the "big stuff". Amazingly we got all our new patio furniture in there, I can get sixteen bags of mulch in there and about 25 strips of sod. Separate trips of course. Love the Sport mode on that little Mini!
Every time I think of selling it, I just find better things to spend money on. The car has long since been paid for is mechanically, electronically and physically, it's almost perfect despite the 190K miles on it. I was close to buying a 09' Quattoporte last summer, then I realized that using a Maserati of that vintage would be a poor choice for a winter vehicle here in Minneapolis, even if it had seat heaters.
Infinity QX56. It's been nice with all the snow of late. The 996 is getting some needed "garage time" over the winter. I've recently refinished some worn interior parts, cleaned the radiators/condensers, and I'm in the process of touching up/refinishing some faded plastic parts and the front bumper cover. I can't wait to get 'er back out on the road!
How has your QX56 been maintenance wise? I had one of those many years ago and we loved it, mainly because it had a warranty, but loved it none-the-less.
996 is a daily driver / track car. And my Cayman S is a daily driver / date car. One is a sophisticated, beautiful PDK - and one is a beautiful hot rod........ it's great to have choices!!
My C4S is my daily driver, although I use the term loosely since I work from home.
My wife drives a Lexus GX470 that I use when the Porsche won't work for what I'm doing.
Winter DD is a Silverado 4x4
Other DDs are a 996 C4 Cabriolet and a Cayman S.
But my use of them is probably the opposite of yours.
The 996 is the easy to drive cruiser and the Cayman is the handling car.
Wife's DD is an Acura MDX along with the 996.
my wife drives a suburban (we have 4 kids)
my main DD is a 1997 nissan hardbody which I plan to make her into a garage queen and pick up a Cayenne S as my new to me daily.
my 996 shares the garage with my Audi TT, e30 TC Baur and my new to me toy 928s.
I like choices
Well, I will be a little different. My DD is a BMW R1100RT. If there is snow/ice on the road (now) it is a 4WD truck. Other than that, winter/summer it is 2 wheels.
My daily driver is a 2014 Trail edition 4 Runner - the fourth T4R I've owned in the last 20 years. Rounding out the stable is a new-ish Civic (I don't know much about that one and am rarely in it except to move it) and a 2004 T4R. The wife doesn't "technically" have a car, but she's been laying a lot of groundwork for a Mini - interesting to see that's a favorite here on RL!
R
MB E350 Wagon for people hauling
Toyota MR2 Spyder for short trips on sunny days
Subie WRX for bad weather, soon to be kids car when my oldest gets a license
Audi A4 for Mrs Ditto
Looking for a Porsche project to fill the empty spot in the garage
We have some of the most hated versions of the best cars made...
My DD is a 2006 BMW 750Li
Wifes is a 2006 Volvo V70R (one of about 600 of her year in the US)
Weekend cars are the 996 cab
and a 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner she and I restored
Range Rover is my daily. Discovery is the wife's. My car has gotten limited street use since the RR arrived. Mostly used for track days now. Life is good...
DD is split between the 99 996 and the 87 928S4. I restored the 70 Chevy 4x4 for my daughters 16th birthday and it was her DD until I turned over the 07 Infiniti G35x to her for better gas mileage to and from college
Thanks, it was a fun project! She learned a lot about the truck and maintenance on it. Don't mean to steal the thread but this is what the truck "Bonnie" looked like before we started.
My DD is my 04 Boxster S and the 04 996 Targa is my wife's car. She drives it about 50% of the time and her Jetta the rest. I drive the Targa a bit as well
Here is the pair
2008 535xi is the 'family truckster': the folding rear seat and heated seats/steering wheel really are earning their keep nowadays. I'm not delighted to have it flayed by both the Virginia sun and the Car-B-Gon spread so liberally on the roads, but my Triumph Bonneville and my 2002 C2 coupe fill my half of the garage.
I might should turn that 5er into a used GTI and an LN retrofit, if spring ever comes.
"How has your QX56 been maintenance wise? I had one of those many years ago and we loved it, mainly because it had a warranty, but loved it none-the-less."
Not all that great. It's my "work/Company car" So maintenance costs are paid by the company. If they were coming out of "my pocket" so to speak (which technically they are, one way or another), I would be less than impressed. Other than that it's a very nice car - full leather, real (cracked finish...) maple wood accents, electronic all wheel/4 wheel hi/lo "on the fly" drive, premium sound/DVD Nav etc. etc. etc... i don't think I'd pay close to $80k for a new one though...
Mine would have broken the bank if it weren't under warranty when I owned it, granted, this was the first generation QX56 and it was a 2005 model. It had lots of electrical gremlins, the front diff had to be replaced twice and and the golden goose was the cracked exhaust manifolds which I guess all the 5.6L motors suffered from. It wouldn't have been as bad, except the cat and the manifold are one piece, so if I remember correctly, parts were $1,800 per manifold. Just crazy.
I've had the 78 Ford for over 20 years. i bought the littlle Ranger a few years ago, it was the last year they made em. The 64 VW gets driven at least once a week. The big red Boss Hoss is my cruiser, its been to every western state in the US and to the Canadian border, the V8 Chopper is my Hot Rod, its a blast. The Porsche rounds out the little fleet.
here is the 32 FORD ROADSTER that I sold to my friend here in Vegas. He traded his 18000 mile 996 that he bought new in on the roadster. I've had many hot rods in my life but it seems someone eventually offers me a price that I cant turn down, I don't think that will be a problem with the 996.
We have a runaway collection of stuff right now- 17 currently, here's a few. The 911 is by far my favorite most days.
04 S55 AMG
67 Camaro RS #'s matching
70 Stingray
72 C10 Stepside
94 Rover
99 SLK
2006 Ford F150 (126K Miles)
2008 Nissan Pathfinder (235K Miles)
Hers is a 2007 BMW 650i (140K Miles)
Yes..we both have very long commutes to work and the Nissan traveled all over the country for years taking our son to soccer tournaments
Well my daily driver is my faith full 2010 Corolla 111000 miles and counting, all maintenance at the dealer, pretty much oil and gas and that's it!!!!!!!
Most people fall on their asses when they found my weekend ride is the 911 cabrio!!!!
Some sway and lateral bars for autocross.
This is the wife's
and my pride and joy!!!!!!!!
Honestly, the F150 twin turbo gets the miles... The percentage of the time I'm hauling dogs, or hauling bikes, or hauling supplies, or hauling people, or driving in bad weather... well, you get the idea. Best truck I've ever owned. Thinking one of the new 2015's would be nice as well...
Q5 turbo also gets some love
I've got about 2.5hrs of commuting each day, so I put those miles on a 2012 VW Touareg. Superb vehicle, which you'd expect as a cousin to the Cayenne. TDI engine gets 27-32mpg and there's plenty of room for two kids and two dogs.
Agree. Mine served me really well, thinking about getting another! I am a turbo fan, but not so much a diesel fan. Wish VW would put the VAG 3.0 GDI Turbo in the Touareg... Mine was a 4.0L V8.
I've been happy with the TDI. I average 700-800 miles on a tank, and have been over 800 on a few occasions. It's got enough power to satisfy on most driving situations. That's not something I can say about my wife's Outback.
I did things kind of backwards--- My track car has become my daily driver. Owned it for 14 years now. 144000 miles, about 5000 of them track miles, 2 engines 9 sets of tires (I think) It has been a good old car.
I live 3 miles from work, so everything becomes a DD for me. I alternate between our road trip car (2014 Cayenne S Hybrid), my weekend date car (2011 Turbo S cab), wife's toy (2013 Boxster S), or grocery getter (2012 E550 4matic)
Car two for me when i'm not driving the GT3 (although choosing between the two is pretty damn hard):
My DD is a 2008 Jetta, SE w/Eibach springs , Borla & 18" black mat finnish wide offset, wheels,,, tried to make it "feel" like a P car, after driving the 996 to work for 3 months, (: wish I could put a pic in here but it will not let me , says I have reached my max? My wives DD is a 2010 Nissan Rogue, SL pearl white, fully loaded , just missing the AWD.
I'm new here, having just purchased an 02 Cab. It'll be used as DD along with my Jeep(grocery, home Depot, Etc).
I'll also use
the 996 as a weekend car , along with my Esprit.
Sometimes,life treats you well
In addition to the '14 CD which we use and love for long trips, trying my first MB E550 Cabriolet for the summer time, Current fleet also includes a CRV, VW Jetta GLI and Accord.
Here's a shot of my wife's car, which is the only vehicle we own besides the 911. She doesn't like getting this one too dirty, which is the reason that I'm shopping for a "beater" 4x4 pickup truck.
I have 6 also. But one is not roadworthy. Need to get that parted out. That will put us with 5. Although we do have 4 drivers but one is away for school most of the year.
My second car is an 04 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Wife has the family MDX. My 996 is my daily driver until the 3 months we have snow and below freezing temperatures then I drive the Jeep every day.
