I replaced the rear tires and ran 38 Rear and got 11,000 miles out of that set of rear tires.
Leading evidence: 'Replace rear tires' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Now I am running 33/39 and the rears appear to be wearing more even.

I run 38 front / 40 rear on 17" and my tires have lasted a long time (14-15k so far) and still look good.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys,
I know this is has been discussed in length, but I am having a tough time deciding where to set my tire pressure. I just had new P Zeros put on the C4S and I would really like to get more than 8,000 miles out of them, as I have read form several people's experiences on here. Is the factory 36/44 really that bad?
I don't mind sacrificing a bit of handling to increase my tire life and I only drive the car on the street. With that being said, what tire pressures (cold) have you had good luck with?
Thanks for your input.
I lower mine by 4 psi(32 front, 40 rear/N1 tires) from that factory spec to get just a little flexing of the side wall for a little cushy ride.
The latest Excellence magazine has an article where Johannes van Overbeek test drove/compared the 996 GT3 and the 997 GT3. He explained there how much more grip he could get for lowering the pressure just a little bit.
I also lowered mine to 33/41 for a softer ride,
the recommended psi is too harsh a ride over less perfect surfaces.
I don't know if lowering the pressure will give you more miles out of the tires though...
i've got >10k on my Eagle f1/GS-D3s..hardly any wear...40/32 for expansion joint duty...I'm not sure if pressure has anything to do with it, or if the Eagles just wear better. I barely got 10k on the Contis and the Bridgestones. Pilot Sports were even worse but really good tires
P-Zeros will wear very quickly. I had the same issue with my P-Zeros, I got only 8,800 miles on the original rear tires. I had PSI set at 36 Front and 44 Rear. I replaced the rear tires and ran 38 Rear and got 11,000 miles out of that set of rear tires.
The PS N1 rear tire in my avatar had 16.5k miles on it, the majority of them at 40psi, and you can see that the wear indicates overinflation. The fronts were not yet at the wear bars and had over 24k miles on them (were on the car when I bought it). I replaced the original rears after driving the car 7k miles, so I would project that the fronts had at least 29k mi on them.
I am going to run 36f/38r on this set. The lesser pressure stagger helps reduce understeer as well.
I run P-Zeros on my 2002 C2. I get less than 6000 miles on the rear before they become slicks. Fronts I can go as much as 18000. I use to run the factory 36/44 and would wipe out the center of the rears even faster. Now I am running 33/39 and the rears appear to be wearing more even.
I also have noticed that my right tires both front and rear wear out a little quicker than the lefts. Whats up with that???
