But with my seats now, it's more the torso part I wish I could adjust....and lower back/lumbar!

You can't laterally adjust the bolsters along your legs or your torso to make the seat wider, if that's what you mean.

My seat is very narrow feeling I wouldn't think an expensive car like this would have such a basic adjusting seat.

Sounds like im stuck unless I decide to purchase a new set with the adjustments I desire!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, my 04 carrera has sport seats and I am very interested in swapping them with someone in Las Vegas that has non sport seats with all the adjustments. My seats are black and are basically perfect. Car has 43000 miles on her. The seats have the crest in the headrest but do not have the flared out sides like some sport seats I've seen. They look like a regular seat. I will get a pic later today. My seats only adjust back and forth, recline, and front and rear rocking adjustment. I drive to CA a lot and my back is a little wide, and I would love to have a normal seat
. Would there be a problem in doing this also? It would seem not, but I'm not sure!
Thanks!!
I doesn't sound like your seats are sport seats... I think they all have the shoulder bolsters.
Post pics so we can see for sure.
I think that what you're looking for is the "comfort seat" option, which has two inflatable lumbar supports. I've got that option in my car - it's nice.
Now I'm wondering. Do the comfort seats have lateral adj as well as my Vett did? My seat is very narrow feeling I wouldn't think an expensive car like this would have such a basic adjusting seat. I'm looking for lateral AND lumbar adjusting.
Thanks!
The early 996 sports seats had electric rake angle, manual fore and aft, manual drivers side height adjustment, heating not available. Later versions have the heating option, unsure about anything else. They all have high shoulder bolsters that look like wings and slightly higher hip bolsters. They are amazingly comfortable for aggressive driving or just touring. I've owned 2 P cars for over 7 years, same year, one with, one without so I could compare over time.
Sounds like you want more power options on the base or standard seats that you already have.
GL
as already pointed out - you do not have sports seats....you have the base seats...
To get what you're looking for - (a more comfy seat) you should be looking for either comfort seats or sports seats
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by lateral adjustments. The comfort seats are all power, with electric lumber controls. You can't laterally adjust the bolsters along your legs or your torso to make the seat wider, if that's what you mean.
Yes Dennis!! That's exactly what I'm talking about. My Vett had both torso and thigh bolster adjustments. But with my seats now, it's more the torso part I wish I could adjust....and lower back/lumbar!
