To date I bought a custom set of front carpet mats from Lloyd's, replaced the air and cabin filters, replaced the rear engine strut, and treated myself to a set of new painted center caps for the wheels.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am a new owner and new to the forum and purchased this 996 from a PCA member in MA. She has just over 54k miles and is bone stock. I am looking forward to everyone's opinions, humor and expertise.

POST 3Original post

Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to rennlist Post a few more pictures and details when you get a chance.

POST 5Original post

Dude you got ripped off , that car is garbage . Kidding , nice car, congrats

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Man, you had me there for a minute...other than a new set of front rotors and pads after PPI, she's been a thrill to drive......and stare at, of course

POST 7Original post

Sweet looking MY04, welcome to Rennlist. Took a boat building class in Annapolis last Nov. for a week.

POST 8Original post

congrats! beautiful car. Please more pics and details.

Annapolis is a great town. Although I am a New Englander at heart, raised on the North Shore of MA and still spend a week each summer in York Beach, Maine. Small world indeed.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some interior shots. As you can see the previous owner was meticulous. I dont believe the rear seats had ever been used, until I put my boys in there to take them to school!!

POST 11Original post

Looks good. Recommended first mod: Replace that silly CD storage unit with a second cubby storage shelf. Open the CD trays, grab them, and pull. It comes right out. Pop a new shelf in... http://www.suncoastparts.com/product..._Code=996intup (note that the upper and lower are slightly different)

POST 12Original post

Nice car. Jealous of the rear wiper on the C2, wish mine had that, seems to be rare on C2's overall.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excellent idea, thank you for the advice. Never have enough room for an iPhone, wallet, etc.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 11499546

Not really rare and I actually took mine out. I've never used it but then again I haven't driven it in snow. The times I took it in the rain, I never really needed to use it. Eventually I took it out. If you have the wiring back there already and don't mind drilling a hole, you can have my wiper assembly.

POST 15Original post

Agreed, and then swap out the side markers with the clear or smoked versions! Welcome!

POST 16Original post

and then do this and that and after you finish with that this always looks good!!!!!!!!.....tread lightly the upgrade fever is very dangerous!....LOL good luck with your new car,IMO they are built very well and will supply years of enjoyment, the facelifted carerras(mk2) are my fav.Qualitys mods are not cheap, and the arguments go on forever about the bang for buck with our N/A cars, most of the info here is spot on,and after awhile you will be able to figure whats good advice, and whats not....again good luck.

Now look what you have done!! I just ordered the clear side markers from Pelican, I'm becoming addicted to this car already

Heh, it's a slippery slope. Enjoy!

POST 20Original post

that's funny because I just bought an 04, same color scheme a few weeks ago up in VA; and I love it too! Well done to the both of us! Ralph

POST 21Original post

Beautiful car! I too just joined the 996 club and am already going crazy trying to figure out what to do first. Are you planning any performance upgrades?

POST 22Original post

Car really looks nice. As stated before - beware of mods, it's like a drug you can't kick the habit. But it is fun and rewarding.

I plan to leave it stock, I might add a sport muffler, possibly a Fister for a more "open" sound to the exhaust, not quite sure. To date I bought a custom set of front carpet mats from Lloyd's, replaced the air and cabin filters, replaced the rear engine strut, and treated myself to a set of new painted center caps for the wheels. Happy motoring.

also the silvered turn signal bulbs. Easily replaced, no more funky orange from the front light assemblies. Did both my C4S and Turbo. 2002 Turbo - Basalt Black Metallic / 2003 Carrera 4S - Speed Yellow / 1955 356 Continental 1500 - Rust Red
