The truth is, I really wanna do a full KK style detail on the engine and change my IMS every few oil changes(sarcasm).

I'm thinking 30" minimum......or come down to Indy and use my lift.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes too lazy to search for once. What is the minimum height you have to lift the rear to drop the motor and slide it out(presumably on a trans jack or something)?

POST 2Original post

I'm thinking 30" minimum......or come down to Indy and use my lift.

POST 3Original post

Plus I have the tranny jack and a hydraulic table for lowering the motor down......its like giving birth......glad there is no emicon for the birth thing.

POST 4Original post

Two pario slabs stacked up under a 3T axle stand set at the maximum height. And then the rear bumperr needs to be removed. But only the bumper cover. This was enough to pull mine with an ATV jack under the engine. Between the ATV jack and the sump was another patio slab and a half inch rubber pad.

POST 5Original post

Most importantly why do you need to drop the motor Alp?

Thanks Pete for the offer but I like to work slow and be meticulous so don't want to tie up your bay. Plus I'd have to pitch a tent in your backyard and I'll know I'll eventually run out of toilet paper and bug you on that too. Eventually by the 3rd or fourth day, you'd probably be ready to call the police to escort me off your property. Lol. Actually I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a portable lift. I didn't want to mention it initially as I didn't want to have this turn into a lift debate. I know someone is gonna ask and that lift would be EZ Car lift. However this one is rated to go up only 26", although some have gotten it to 29" at their own risk. I could stack some 2x10's for the few more inches but not really ideal. This is the only one at the current time that would fit my criterias: - small garage with low ceiling height - thinking of splitting the cost between few friends so it needs to be portable - cracked concrete floor and unknown depth of concrete - plan on doing a new garage with pad in a few years - needs to be high enough for future m96 engine drop - can't be scissor style since I need to work on the center of other cars - nice to be able to roll it out and work in the driveway - don't have to worry about hydraulic lines, 220v ps, etc. Once I get my new garage built in a few years, I'd be in a position and would make more sense to get a more permanent lift. The truth is, I really wanna do a full KK style detail on the engine and change my IMS every few oil changes(sarcasm).
