Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just purchased a set of bypass pipes that I intend to only use for autox or special occasions. So I'm looking for a set of muffler clamps that can stand to be reused often. Any ideas? the ones from summit from this thread are cheap, only $8 a piece: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...***-pipes.html the ones from fabspeed are not cheap, $60. http://www.fabspeed.com/996_GT3.html from what i've read, the standard clamps stink. any recommendations?

POST 2Original post

why not have 2 sets of clamps and just leave the clamps with their respective pipes. I never had any issues with clamps and I swapped them 3 times...I never understood what the deal with people ayig they didnt work after a couple times... dont tighten them till the yield...

POST 3Original post

I have the fabspeed ones and i have to say they rock and are really easy to take off and on.

POST 4Original post

If you are so concerned that they will freeze on from Over Torque and Heat Cycle... Use a torque wrench and on set them to the same value each time and place Never Sieze on the threads! Or just leave the darn things on an forget about it!

I am sure they are fine - with a helmet on

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i officially hate the standard muffler clamps. they were very difficult to take off and on. they required a hammer for me. the summit racing muffler clamps are very easy. i'll let everyone know how they do after a season of autox. even with stock cats and headers, the muffler bypass pipes are way too loud for everyday driving. but with the helmet on, they're actually pretty quiet.
