Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the Beru from Pelican Parts ($267) in 2013.

I had just seen on another forum people didn't need the longer bolt in their 02 but not sure if they had replaced their coils somewhere along the line to the newer style.

I went with Bosch Coils and NGK plugs and the car is running good.

The 02 is running a little rough in the lower RPMs and when I got caught in the rain it started running worse until it dried out but not missing enough to throw a CEL so I am guessing I have at least one cracked coil.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 02 has 75,000 so I am going to change the plugs and thought I would do the coil packs as well. I have been reading and it seems people have received new Beru packs which had a bad coil. I am sure this is far and few between but I am wondering what other brand people in the States are using, where you got them from and price?
I see Pelican has the Beru for $241.50 + $15 for the longer bolts.

Typically free shipping and tax free unless you live in a state that has a warehouse.
Beru is basically OEM and never has been an issue with me either. Why get anything else based on some of the same internet hype/crap you may have heard? Are we going to turn defective Beru coils into an IMS debacle too?
I am just curious if anyone is using anything else, if so, how it has performed and what it cost. By no means am I trying to start a debacle or get anyone's panties in a wad over brand selection, I was just asking for information. I will more than likely go with Beru but I wanted to be well informed.
I have seen the TPI for under $28
Bosch for $39
Deutsche Parts $30
The Bosch seems to run the same as the Beru price wise not sure if Bosch is any better or not.
I definitely wonder this as well. One time I found some sloppy machining on the threads of a Bosch oil filter where they didn't clean off the loose metal debris. I was shocked to say the least.
But since Porsche is owned by VW now, I'd also be scared on sub-assemblies being assembled in Mexico as well.
I honestly haven't seen any yet, I have heard some are made in China though.
All the Bosch parts I have seen have been made in Germany, Czech or EU.

I am not sure, as far as I know the coils in my car are original from 2002. I had just seen on another forum people didn't need the longer bolt in their 02 but not sure if they had replaced their coils somewhere along the line to the newer style. I guess at about 60 cents a bolt I may as well get the new ones just in case.
A word of caution - if your coils are original, then the bolts may be weakened significantly. Be careful when removing them - the heads will shear off and it can be a royal pain to remove the remaining bolt from the engine.
Take it nice and easy and you should be good to go.
Thanks for the advice Spruden, A friend owns a
body shop
and has offered his lift for the whole day so if it takes me 6-8 hours I don't mind. Hmm, I should get him to respray my rear bumper while it is off.
Ordered my Bosch coil packs from Jason at Warehouse 33 so hopefully I will get the coils and plugs put in next week sometime.

Change my original Beru Coils and Beru Spark plugs today. The spark plugs didn't really look too bad. I went with Bosch Coils and NGK plugs and the car is running good. The little bit of stammer I was experiencing is gone. Four of my coils were cracked/broken. I know why my car wasn't puddle friendly. It took me a little over 5 hours, had to remove bumper and both mufflers. I had to work around the muffler brackets which took extra time. The pictures are exactly how they looked when they came out, no doctoring.
