Suggestion
On the plus side, the guy told me that the money I spent on the repair (125 or something like that) could be applied towards a brand new windshield if I decide to go that route, so it's essentially a riskless transaction.

While they were able to repair the chips so that they won't spread, they don't look any better.

I'd go ahead and try it - if it doesn't work out, you can (allegedly) put whatever you spent on repair towards a new windshield so there's little risk.

Has anyone here ever used Safelite to repair their windshield? I tried it once on my Volvo, but they couldn't fix it. I just acquired a small star shaped crack in mine.

I've used Safelite and Gerber several times. Never had any issues with them in the past. Usually if the star crack is bigger than a dime(some will say nickel) then they don't wanna bother fixing it as it can still grow bigger.

On my 996, I suffered 2 rock chips on the way home from picking it up when I bought it. And of course they're both right in front of the driver. While they were able to repair the chips so that they won't spread, they don't look any better. That is what I was concerned with. They tried to repair my Volvo windshield, but the star shaped crack was still there after he filled it with the resin. He said he had never seen that happen before. The crack is about 1/4" in size.

I had Safelite fix a little star chip in one of my Subies. Came out good, and it was free (insurance paid for the fix with no deductible). I could see the repaired area as a very slight mark, but no one else would ever notice it.
