Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

37 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked up the thicker factory wheel, I think it's called factory code CPZ. Hard to see difference from pics but it feels awsome.

POST 3Original post

Hmmmm, interesting, very interesting........enjoy the mod.

POST 4Original post

Does the color of the steering wheel match that of the airbag cover? It looks different in the picture. I was thinking of getting the thicker wheel, but most of the pics I've seen show that its a slightly different color.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8393636

It's just the photo, matches fine.

POST 7Original post

Nice! Girth is very important IIRC the option code for the thicker steering wheel is XPA.

POST 8Original post

well done (sorry about the previous attempt) looks about 17-22 IHP

POST 9Original post

Looks great, the factory wheel is a little thin, nice upgrade. What was the part number for CRZ. I have full leather, would like to upgrade to leather air bag, CRZ would be great also.

Thanks, it all worked out!

POST 11Original post

Good....I have spent a lot of time in "the box" I'm not ready to get out yet though

POST 12Original post

This looks good, but is it just me, or are the 2 foot thick jelly-squishy massaging steering wheels that come on M3's utterly ridiculous?

POST 13Original post

997 has "heated steering wheel" option.... I would rather have "cooling" !!!

POST 14Original post

Only downside is that the thicker wheel is only available in Black.

POST 16Original post

original owner of my 997.1 C2S got the alcantara steering wheel option - it was about $1100 (ouch) but it is very, very nice. I wouldn't get it, but I'm glad I have it!

My Cayenne has the heated wheel... feels... odd.

POST 18Original post

POST 22Original post

Looks rich Marc! Did you have to pull the airbag out, and fit it into the new steering wheel?

POST 23Original post

That looks great Marc, what a nice improvement.

POST 24Original post

I have that wheel and like it, but I am still wanting more meat. Check put www.dallassteeringwheel.com

POST 32Original post

Randy308- Sweet wheel. Is the alcantara wearing well?

POST 33Original post

Looks great Randy! But, doesn't the alcantra on the steering wheel get filthy after a while? At least leather can be cleaned pretty easily.

POST 34Original post

Looks great Marc. I think I may go this route as my wheel has developed the sensitive horn issue. I currently have two bent 3X5 cards stuck between the horn pad and the wheel to keep it from honking everytime I hit the brakes.

POST 35Original post

Looks good... I must agree the factory wheel is just too thin... hmmm...

POST 36Original post

Nice upgrade, I know when I swapped out my sport steering wheel on my BMW E46 for an M3 wheel, it made a big difference. Just a personal driving difference.

POST 37Original post

alcantara wears and cleans up very well, and of course i try and keep my hands clean,it also smells good!
