I found this in Ottawa, previous owner managed to find most of the service history - IMS done when clutch was replaced, RMS done, regular maintenance.

I've used alot of different products before but this drill attachment works wonders.

Normally I use Autoglym but these came with little bottles for each so I tried them out - they worked well.

Then I used the meguires DA attachment (first on a cordless drill but it was too weak so I switched to an electric drill - about half power).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The drivers seat bolster was a bit worn, so I went and saw the guy at a shoe repair place and he re dyed it and fixed it up.
Hey all,
Thought I would post some pics of my new(ish) '99 c2, I got her in May and I love it. I spent a few years restoring an old Datsun 240z, and have owned a BMW Z3 and a Nissan 370Z as previous toy cars.
I found this in Ottawa, previous owner managed to find most of the service history - IMS done when clutch was replaced, RMS done, regular maintenance. It has 75k kms on it and in good condition.
So far all I have done is torn out the stock stereo, speakers and amp and upgraded.
The paint was a bit swirly so I clay barred it, then did a 3 part cleaner, polish and wax. Heres a few pics.
Congrats
You can tell it has been taken care of by a concerned owner. The stereo upgrade is sometimes necessary; however, I would consider selling or storing those 17" OEM wheels, and putting some nice aftermarket wheels either 18s or 19". Just a thought
I really should have taken some before pics, but it was pretty swirly and looked like it had seen a few petro-can car washes. heres some close ups of after:

Thanks! Before I made the trek to pick her up I got the option codes from the frunk. One of the codes said it had 18" turbo style wheels so I assumed they would be on the car. The PO isnt aware that the wheels had ever been changed so perhaps theres a discrepancy in what the option codes state and reality.
Boy you really did a great job on that paint.Looks new. I have 2000 c2 metallic black and I got to get down to doing something with the paint. I never seem to be satisfied,What did you use?
Paint looks great! Need to do that to my 996.2 as she is a little swirly at the moment! As stated I would put some nice period correct optional wheels on the car (like the 18's that were originally on it). Oem can be found and there are aftermarket companies that make replicas. Another mod to consider, FisterD mufflers. It was the first thing I did to my car, and is held in high regard on this forum. Darin is a great guy to work with and the sound is GLORIOUS. Not overbearing but makes every drive special, and no drone. For $350 and a 1 hour install it is a deal that can't be beat. Other than that enjoy the hell out of it! They are great drivers, and I feel fortunate that I get to daily mine. In the 8 months I have owned it I have put on 15,000 miles!
Hey thanks! I've used alot of different products before but this drill attachment works wonders. I like it better than my 8" polisher, in fact I gave it to my neighbor.

But first I used mothers clay bar kit. Read the instructions. I dont use the spray bottle I used very soapy water and squeezed a sponge over it constantly as I clayed.
Then I used the meguires DA attachment (first on a cordless drill but it was too weak so I switched to an electric drill - about half power). I also bought the cleaning and polishing attachments. Normally I use Autoglym but these came with little bottles for each so I tried them out - they worked well.
For the waxing I really liked techwax on my 370z but it didnt shine as much on this flatter black paint, I switched after a small spot. I tried meguires black wax after reading some other forums and I really liked it. It really worked well.
Of course it took me about 6 hours and maybe 8 beers to get the job done but I loved every minute of it. The DA attachment did every curve of the car its the perfect size. I taped off the rear bumper guards and had to hand wax right under the mirrors and around the front bumper cut outs but it saved me so much time. I recommend it to anyone.
I'd be happy to outline the whole process if anyone is interested, but the technique and process are half the battle.
Theres not much clearance so I assume I'll have to go with a lower profile tire, and Im guessing that makes the ride a bit harsher. It did on my 370Z. Has anyone gone from 17's to 18's and can chime in? I agree they look better but I kinda like a cushier ride.
Do you or anyone have a video of the FisterD exhaust in action? I'd love to hear it. I had an awesome Amuse Titan on my Z and loved the subtle growl.
Cheers,
zak
I dd my car and it has the optional BBS lightweight 18 inch wheels, I feel as though the ride is more than comfortable and have taken the car on 600+ mile trips in one day. I will try to make a sound clip of my exhaust by the end of the afternoon and post it to YouTube so you can hear.
Looks great! Nice job on the paint and the seat. The 18" wheels will make the ride a little rougher but it will pay off in the handling department. I have 18" with M030 suspension and the road feel is a bit harsh but wouldn't have it any other way. The Lexus is for when you want cushie.
Great-looking car...congrats! I tried the shoe store restoration for the bolster, but wasn't happy with it after a few weeks, so had the seat redone at an auto upholstery shop. Like new now.
I've got 17s for winter and 18s for summer. I highly recommend following suit. The 17s are softer and more relaxed, the higher sidewall is a must for pot holes and other hazards.
Switching to the 18s in the spring is like getting a new car. Completely different animal. Tires make all the difference. Find some good MY02s used and you'll be a happy guy.
Looks great! I've had great success with leather dye on seats such as yours. Should work especially well on black. I also refinished my console with it too. Looks brand new.
I have stock 18" on mine which is my DD. I don't care to be punished on my commute, but these are fine.
I was *perfectly* happy with my car yesterday morning... but today I've spent the last hour watching different exhaust videos and searching wheels.. thanks guys
Now if you'll excuse me... more videos to watch.
Great looking car. I'm also a new owner of a '99.
Did you sell the 240z? It seems like they have been climbing in value over the past few years. I was considering buying one maybe 5 years ago, wish I had.
Ya I sold the 240z. I was 90% done the rebuild on this one - every bolt restored or replaced. My wife got sick of it in the garage and I just kinda got sick of it not on the road. Needed something to drive and enjoy. The 240Z is great on the road, fun to drive and sounds great. I liked the 370z so much I flipped it and got one. If i held onto it it definitely would have gone up in value, I just didnt have the time to get her on the road
I was the webmaster for

for years, designed the forum and recently I stopped being their web guy(now a porsche guy
) and it got a facelift.
Very cool. Yes, the 240z is a great, fun car. My grandfather had one in the early 80s, I remember it well. One of my cousins wrapped it around a tree at some point so it's no longer with us.
