Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I made a video to show a new 996 owner what the FisterD mufflers sound like. Figured I would go ahead and post the video to the board so that anyone can check it out and decide if it is right for them. Personally I think the mufflers are amzing and make the stock cans sound like a toyota camry. So for any newbies/undecideds out there, this is what FisterD's sound like. Porsche 911 996 sound clip. 3.6L C2 - YouTube

POST 2Original post

Awesome.....I love my exhaust too. It's almost like your video is a cartoon with the two pipes moving up and down when you are revving it.

POST 3Original post

Ah yes, more video of a car in park/neutral getting flogged. That always makes me cringe, especially since so much of the Fister awesomeness happens under load at 5K+ RPM. OP, it was cool of you to make a video to try to help someone out. Probably helps to use headphones - imagining how a muffler sounds based on Internet video with lousy PC speakers is like trying to describe how a hummer feels using an Etch-a-Sketch while wearing mittens.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Unfortunately I do not have a go pro at my condominium in Reno, so I could not make a video of the sound under load. You are correct, the exhaust does sound better under load and I do not enjoy revving my car in neutral as these are engines that enjoy being under load much more. But the engine was warm from a spirited drive on my day off, and I just thought I would do something nice for a new 996 owner who was curious about the sound the car makes, and for an Internet video I thought my clip did a pretty good job of demonstrating that!

Is your car a tip or a stick? One thing I also like about the Fisters is the burble when you're coasting - just a little hint of rumble, especially when coasting downhill. I might even be guilty of feeding the car a tiny bit of throttle to encourage this sound. After performing the "tunnel test" countless times, the Fisters have definitely passed, and the price is amazing compared to the other options. Agreed. 5 Internet points and some good karma for you.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is a stick. You're spot on, when I am up in the north with the 996 I go out of my way to do all of the above. As a matter of fact, there is a nice windy road with a solid concrete divider that makes for great fun in 3rd gear at 5000+ RPM with the windows down! Now that's a sound clip I wish I could capture, but is only done justice in person!

POST 7Original post

You could never get sick of that sound. I've heard and seen countless videos and it really wouldn't bother me if 100 peeps made the exact same video.

POST 8Original post

For anyone else considering having a muffler shop to this instead of the real fister... I had a muffler guy do mine and they don't sound as good as this video. Mine almost have a 'ricey/raspy' sound to them. Kicking myself for not getting the real fisters after watching this vid.

POST 9Original post

I have real fisters and they are my absolute favorite part of my car. The burble is almost like an overrun Ferrari pop. Not really, obviously, but there is a hint of it.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 12440381

Do you have mk1 or mk2 mufflers? They have different sound characteristics when modded. Also did you actually see them cut the hole and what pipe size did you use? There's a noticeable difference between using 1.5" vs 2" for example.

POST 12Original post

Fister exhaust is the best modification for the money, it's a slam dunk in terms of return on investment. Roll the windows down, shut off the A/C and stereo and enjoy the flat-6 concofonl of sound!

POST 13Original post

Just had my Fisters installed on Thursday. The car sounds amazing! No tunnel or overpass is safe from revving.
