Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2003 4s owner's manual calls for 10x18 et47 rear winter rims which are impossible to find. Last winter i stretched winter 265s on the stock summer 11x18 et45 rear rims which worked but (1) looked terrible, and (2) probably wasn't safe. I now have an extra set of rims which came with my 2009 997.2 4s. They are 8x19 et57 in front and 11x19 et51 rear. I can easily find winter tires, 235s in front and 295s in back, to fit the 997.2 rims but my question is whether they will rub near the inside on my 03 4s as the offsets are +7 and +6 vs my existing 996.2 rims. Should i just run 6mm spacers all around, 3mm, or none? The tire tech at the hotrod shop doesn't like using spacers if not absolutely necessary. I would be replacing 8x18 et50 rims with 8x19 et57 (FRONT) and 11x18 et45 rims with 11x19 et51 (REAR). 235s in front vs 225s and 295s in rear vs 265s. Thanks in advance for any advice or alternative suggestions.

Have you tried the wheel offset calculators to understand how the wheel offsets move the tire/wheel inboard or outboard? That may give you an indication of how much the new combo will be positioned and you can measure how much clearance you have with your current combo on your car underside. https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator
