Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The photo tells the story. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

POST 2Original post

First step would be to open the engine lid and spray some silicone lube on the spoiler struts. Second step would be to have someone push the manual spoiler button and you pull up on the spoiler to see if you can get it to raise properly. Pull gently to see if it will raise. If not and it is stuck, you may have to replace the right spoiler strut. You are trying to lube Part 17 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=803-07

POST 3Original post

On the back side of that banana shaped tube that deploys the spoiler, there is a hole in which you can spray some silicone spray w/ red tube directly into "hinge". Once you get it loose run through several cycles to lube it properly along with the actual hinges of spoiler on the lid. Mike

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So when deployed I can gently lift the passenger side up and it stays almost in place. It's almost like it's not being pushed up at all. I'm going to investigate further this weekend. Any info on what to look for? Parts to check/clean?

POST 5Original post

Check here on the list as someone had a excellent write up on taking the unit apart and redoing it. I didn't do that but gave me good photos to work from. I think from what I see, if you do some Silicone lube, it will take about 6-8 squirts to eliminate the noise and operate as intended on each side. Did you find the lube hole in the tube ? about halfway down in the curve, on the outside bend. about 3/16" diameter. Mike

POST 8Original post

Success!!! My spoiler is once again fully operational. In my case, the issue was a broken piece inside of the actuators--#17 in the attached parts breakdown. There's a small black end cap with a metal tab which the drive rod/cable attaches to--once that cap breaks, you'll have either no spoiler movement, limited movement, or a crunching/grinding sound as it moves--I had all three symptoms. I used epoxy to repair both actuators. That little cap seems like a high-stress item, I can definitely see where all 911s of that era will eventually experience this issue, particularly if the actuators aren't properly lubricated. While I had everything apart, I applied white lithium grease to all moving parts. Admittedly, I was worried I wouldn't be able to put it back together again--I slowed my breathing, took breaks often and followed the extremely helpful advice from several people on this thread, and most importantly, these these: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...y-rebuild.html You Tube You Tube
