It doesn't matter whether I run 245/40s or the current 265s, either.

at the moment i'm running on Bridgestone Potenza S-04 285/30 R18 on the OEM lightweight wheels, which are 10" wide i believe.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello guys.
i recently installed Ohlins R&T coilovers on my 02 C2, and lowered the car.
now i would like to add some wheel spacers, to get them as as aligned with the fenders as possible.
the front is looking good, so i just need spacers there. the rear fender is looking a bit "empty" so i was wondering if there is a way to "fill it up" with a larger tire (before taking measurements for the spacer, or maybe i will not need a spacer at all)
at the moment i'm running on Bridgestone Potenza S-04 285/30 R18 on the OEM lightweight wheels, which are 10" wide i believe.
any advice will be greatly appreciated..
We have 295/30/18s no rubbing and wheel well still looks empty. Stock suspension, 65 mm back spacing. Planning on trying 285/35/18 next, other posts said no rubbing even lowered and with spacer.
are we talking about the same engineers that designed the IMS, AOS, RMS and the expansion tank?
jokes aside, aren't most of the track cars are using different tires and wheels than stock?
i believe that some of engineering decision has to do with cost fuel consumption, and emission regulations.
Not sure the OEM wheel has the appropriate back spacing to achieve your desired look. You may need wheel spacers.
Here's my current set up, and the tires & wheels are flush with the fender.
Front:
18x9ET44.5mm
245/40/18
Rear:
18x11.5ET60.5mm
315/30/18
yes. plan is to use spacers if needed, but need to start with the correct tire to take measurements.
your car looks great. the 315's will probably won't fit the OEM wheel.
315/30 wants to be on 10.5 to 11.5 wide rim. Those 5 spoke wheels are 10 inch so a little bit narrower but could still give it a shot. Might not be ideal for Max performance but you are not likely to be competing on those wheels and tire combos anyway.
Rolled fenders, JIC/ Cross coilovers, bigger front ARB, RSS rear toe arms. Have the weight down to 2950, give or take a few lbs. Wavetrac diff ties it all together, can throttle steer now.
Will get more pics when they let me out of the dungeon.
Sorry for the delay, guys. Not on here as much as I'd like to be. In any case, here's what I've done to cut down on the weight:
replace both seats with race buckets
rear seat delete
lighter wheels
lighter steering wheel
lightweight flywheel
lighter (sprung hub) clutch disc
Braille lightweight battery (11 lbs.)
headers
IPD plenum
hot air intake
removed CD changer
Other than that, car is still all intact. AC, carpet/sound deadening material, sunroof, heavy PSE exhaust. I could lose a few more but don't want to do without the creature comforts. I'd
love
to get a lighter custom exhaust but don't want to give up the loud/quiet option.
I'm pretty sure they're standard GT3 specs:
18x9 50ET
18x11 63ET
-3 up front
-2.5 in the rear.
0 toe on all four corners
If the car didn't tramline enough already, I'd set a smidge of toe-out up front. However, I feel that would make things worse. It doesn't matter whether I run 245/40s or the current 265s, either. This thing has me working the wheel constantly to get it to behave!
I am only running 235s up front, but have had luck with this alignment (nice turn in, stable at high speed/straightaways):
Fr Camber -2.5
Fr Toe 0.1 total OUT
Rr Camber ~-2.8
Rr Toe 0.3 total IN
Here 996 C2 with Ohlins R&T about 18mm lowered.
Running techart formula
front: 8.5 Et 50:
235/40/18 Yoko AD08r
slightly rubbing on inner side of wheel well liner on maximal steering. Can be solved with a small spacer. Or stay with 225/40/18
Rear: 10.5 ET60:
295/30/18: No problems
compared to the Carrera 5 spoke the Techart formula sticks out a bit more outward in the front. In the rear it fills the wheel arch very nice. Not completely flush with whee arch. Maybe 5mm more space.
no specific extreme alignment applied. Will need to check the report for the specific values.
will try to make a picture tomorrow if you are interested to see
Turn in has always been excellent with the car. The stability, I've found, is dependent on the road. On nicely-paved ones, mine's stable at 3x the speed limit. However, on the freeway, uggghhh. Every dip, rut, bump and expansion joint has it darting left and right. Running 225s or 235s helps but not much. I guess it's the tradeoff from running my alignment settings.
