Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

The Kenwood unit actually uses Garmin navigation, which is one of the reasons that I bought it.

I think it uses their most current software and maps, but I'm not entirely sure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hope to install a modern Radio, with Nav and Bluetooth in my 03 C4S. I saw a wonderful KENWOOD 6" unit , ( DNX6968) with voice and all the gizmos to create a modern auto environment. With a new Alpine amp, cost of installation is about $ 1600. My Bose speakers are retained. Any experiences with Kenwood products? Would I get similar performance from a stand alone Garmin device?

POST 2Original post

This thread (earlier this month) is great https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...installed.html

POST 3Original post

You will get much, much better performance from a standalone high-end Garmin. The nav software (and especially the real-time traffic) on the double din in-dash units is generations behind the current standard.

POST 4Original post

That's probably true, but the nav software in the double DIN units is generations ahead of the OEM nav systems. The Kenwood unit I just installed is dramatically better than the OEM system in the Cayenne.

The Kenwood unit actually uses Garmin navigation, which is one of the reasons that I bought it. I think it uses their most current software and maps, but I'm not entirely sure. It seems quite good. I also purchased the real-time traffic option, and it works very well around Denver.
