I think I've used the horn twice in 3 years of ownership so that area doesn't see much play

Suggestion
For smaller areas, use a foam brush, and for very small areas, a good-quality small brush is best… go to Michaels’s craft store, and they have dozens that you can choose from.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I took Cuda911's advice and touched up the uppoer center console, seat switch panels and a few marks on the lower console. I had Home Depot use the ashtray lid to color match the interior. I used a sample size of the Flat Enamel Latex paint. Here are the before and after shots...
It came out amazing. The color match was spot-on. Best $3.85 I spent.
Looks great, Zachsdad1!!!
Yep, the best under $5 mod imaginable!
To document for others, here's what I recommend:
I had Home Depot mix me up the smallest amount they sell… I think it’s about a 5 ounce jar. Latex, flat.
For minor scratches, I use a tiny paint brush. For larger areas, a foam brush works well. When it first goes on, the paint looks too dark. For me at least, when it dried the match was 100% perfect.
They also sell at Home Depot, for about $10, a little sprayer system. It has a small glass jar and an attached aerosol sprayer. Those work very well for larger areas. If your console is in really bad shape, I would remove it and use the sprayer. For smaller areas, use a foam brush, and for very small areas, a good-quality small brush is best… go to Michaels’s craft store, and they have dozens that you can choose from.
Of course, be sure to test an inconspicuous are first!
Home Depot paint guy talked me out of doing this.
I took my ashtray to the paint department and asked to match the color.
They guy said the latex will not adhere to the dash or plastic pieces. So I walked away dejected.
But it looks like I was lied to?
I'd be curious as to how durable it is to scratches. As well as the long term durability since the car environment is subjected to extreme weather conditions not typically found in homes and the long term effects of UV rays.
Anyone try using plastic dip to refinish the interior pieces? I have a black interior, and thinking of doing that, i have a few deep scratches around the radio surrounds etc. And painting them probably won't fill.
Really thinking about having some made for an aerosol application and painting my stock (grey sparkly) trim (under airbag, key hole, air vents and center cluster by the radio) done in Guards red, the car color. My issue is, I don't have any guards red to match, unless I take off the spoiler, hood, or seats lol.
Any help would be great.
OP this turned out fantastic! Really a great improvement.
I used leather dye and Plasti-dip to make a grey 3 spoke steering wheel black. The Plasti-dip looks and feels just like the vinyl
I'm not sure how well it would hold up on parts that are being touched constantly, though.
My guess is that neither Plasti-dip nor latex will hold up for long if there is a lot of physical contact. Works great for the steering wheel, though
Thanks!
Only the vinyl is Plasti-dipped. The leather wrap was dyed.
I think I've used the horn twice in 3 years of ownership so that area doesn't see much play
I'm a pretty laid back driver.
Wow I've got to do this. My interior looks exactly like the OP's with the same color and black scratches in the paint.
Even if it's not that durable if it lasts a couple of years it's still worth the cost and effort.
Now that center console looks great. My plan is to have my center concise sprayed dark blue metallic when I have my hard top sprayed. I'm not confident I could achieve such a high quality finish on my own.
i like the center console lower section delete...nice! Looks like a purpose driven car!

Next time, don't get your info from a minimum wage shelf jockey.
Anyway, the latex works just fine. Considering how "fragile" the OEM trim paint is, you are no worse off with the latex. And, if it scratches again, simple enough to retouch it.
automotivetouchup.com has factory matched paint in a spray can
I've used their Glacier White and Lapis Pearl Blue Metallic with excellent results
Spot repair on rear bumper cover...before.
And after...yeah, I know. I got paint on the bumperettes, but its gone now
And some color matched headlights in Lapis Pearl Blue that I did for a customer.
+1 on automotivetouchup.com ... I used their paint on my bumperettes and the match was excellent.
Charles ... why not just paint your bumperettes? Looks like you're off to a good start :-)
This has been my experience too and is my preferred touch up source out of the other ones I've tried(paintscratch, tower).
Automotive Touchup also sells the "real" professional clear coat and is the best clear coat I've used out of a spray can. It says right on the can for professional use only and technically, I'm not even sure if they are suppose to be selling it to consumers. This is the type where you have to use a respirator mask.
+1 on them as well. They even have a good match for the fiesta red on our 56 ford. I no longer mix/spray my own for small parts, even though i have the equip.
