Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I only use my 996 as a road car. The Targa being rather soft in chassis and suspension, I consider it more like a GT than a sports car. I try to use it for every short(ish) family trip under 1000 km.
For our next trip in France, we'll travel 900 km each way, and stay for 7 days down there. I have already done it once but only two up in the car (my little one, 8, and myself, whereas my wife and my eldest one, 11, flew).
We have organised an half way stop on each way. This time I want to take a bit more luggage than for just a long weekend. So I kept searching for a solution to carry extra luggage on a 996 Targa. There isn't anything really avaiable.
So I decided to buy and try a luggage rack from Boot-Bag, the Spring Stainless Steel version :

I tried first to install it on the engine cover. Unfortunately, it won't work without modifying the mobile part of the clamping device. I also tested it on the frunk cover, like on the Safari 911, and that works. But it hinders the front view a bit, although it strtonlgy depends on which luggage you put on it, obviously. Finally, I tried it on the rear hatch (a Targa exclusivity!), and it works too.
See below for a few pictures.
I'm only in the test phase. I tested it up to 160 kph without any luggage. And it's fine. The tests with an empty luggage is the next test phase. Then with some weight (increasing up to 15kg).
I'll keep you posted!
Fabrice
Looks good, if sturdy enough, should work fine! Probably better further forward anyhow, for weight over rear wheels. Good luck!

I ran today the final road tests with the 65l dry bag I intend to use, weighing 15kg, and up to 180 kph. No issue. The wind noise present at motorway speed without the bag has gone completely. I took it all off and there isn't any mark remaining.
So testing completed and solution validated.
