Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all,
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/cto/2286094107.html
Warm weather is coming. And I am back on the hunt.
I am not looking for a mint condition, low mileage, babied car. I don't really want to pay for that. I'm looking for an MKII cab under $25k that I can have some fun with the top down on nice days.
I saw this car for sale before winter, and now I see it is still for sale. I actually like the auto (for me and my wife; I've had two manual 911's). What I don't like, that I can see from the add, is: the "CarreraS" on the trunk lid - that is a sign for me (hard to explain, but it signals something about the owner, maintenance, etc). I like that it is red (a third car for me), that it is a cab, that it is an MKII with many options, and that it probably can be had for $24k. I would probably put 5k miles on it in three years, and if it were still worth $18k+ at that time, I'd be happy.
So let me know your thoughts on this car. If anyone knows anything specific about this car, I'd like to hear about.
P.S. I wouldn't buy it without a PPI.
Regards, Todd

I was wondering if you were serious, until it struck me what "JK, GL" means.
I didn't notice the guy said "mint" in his add. It looks to me to be more on the "well driven" side, as opposed to mint - but alas these are subjective terms. lol. I also have a suspicion that the "CarreraS" was added after a potential rear ender. But who knows. I asked the guy for the accident history/carfax/etc.
If I did buy this car, and then put up pictures with the "CarreraS" emblem on the lid, I can only imagine what you guys would say!
Good you have a sence of humor
I had a 996 Cab for 7 years, looking for another, only this time with a huffer-puffer. You will love the Cab, adds so much to the already wonderful driving experience. My wife who currently owns a Boxster and complained everytime I took her along topless in my Cab, now complains when I talk of possibly buying a coupe if the 'right" car comes along.
did I say that right?
+1!
the car isnt anything special, though relatively nice/plain....I dont see any red flags, but dont see anything to make me rush over and hear this guy tell me about the rare custom carpets either.....
not full aero? no rear?? (dont know)
anyhow, red cars are ugly
have you looked at it in person?

Seller should've listed the clear side markers--they're the signature of a caring, responsible P-car owner
My gut feel...do your homework extra carefully on this one. Or walk away and look for another example. There are lots of well-priced 996 cabs out there in excellent condition, they're not rare in the slightest.
Good luck
I don't think it's factory aero is it? Maybe that's why it's missing the rear aero.
The sideskirts look like mk1's. It's a little hard to tell on my screen.
You guys are tough!!
Just the same, I think I'm going to pass on this one.
I hate to be fickle, but I am now looking into a 2006 C4 (non-S) Factory Aero. I love the big pimpy spoiler on the back, and it has a CPO for another 1.5 years. The guy wants $48k with 24k miles.
The reason I could go from $24k to $48k is that the $24k car would be a 3rd car. The $48k car, with AWD and CPO, could be a primary driver (I think!).
