Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some peeps apparently still think the 996 is a collectible investment. This one only has 911 models that were made, but still. I could think of a lot of other cars $47k can buy. Discuss http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks

POST 2Original post

what does this model add exclusively that separates it from the rest of the 911's?

POST 3Original post

I admit I like the Millennium Edition (I would however remove the highly polished wheels-ugh) and wouldn't mind having one...... Not for $47K however.......... There was another one a few months ago with less than 1,000 miles on eBay with a higher price tag; 69,000 maybe more if I remember correctly-CRAZY. I think it's a neat car but despite the limited numbers I view it as a C4 that it is and maybe only worth a small premium over an equal C4.

It has "911" stuck on the dash. Mine don't have that.

But I already know that it's a 911...I think they should have stamped IMSB there instead. Maybe with Jake's phone # underneath it instead of the serial #?

POST 6Original post

I wouldn't touch that car with a Barge Pole. It has been standing around way too long. Even at half of the price they are asking. Yeh it certainly looks purple to me haha. Is there such a color as Blackish/purple? Drive train = AWD then says DRIVE type RWD... Anyone who buys a 996 and expects to make money on it must be a Maniac. What a load of BS.

POST 7Original post

Hmmm, an average of 349 mi./yr. That thing's a time-bomb just waitin' to blow!!!

We almost bought one new, glad we didn't. You couldn't pick many (any?) options so they are all the same. It's a C4 with a special iridescent color and tan interior. It had 911 badging where the other 996 did not. They were limited and numbered. It was actually a decent deal at the time for what you got, but she wanted hers BTO and we didn't care for the colors. I personally still don't find them to be anything special over a normal 994.1 C4.

POST 11Original post

tried to hard to see/find what is special about it (I failed....but thanks to gnat above, learned something new today)

POST 12Original post

Regarding the price... they can ask for whatever they want. It is still a sub $30k car IMO. I really do like the Vesuvio paint, better than black or silver IMO. There is already a nice one on ebay and RL with a new IMSB and around 30k miles in stellar shape. The ask on that one is $30k. Closer to reality but I do not see any reason to pay a premium for the limited edition. Now an X51 40th car has something to offer and may be worth the stretch to $30k in the current market. I seriously doubt they get an offer even remotely close.
