They took care of the oil change, repaired the A/C system, and fixed the airbag light (driver's seat belt receptacle) and ordered a trim piece for a very reasonable price.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, I just picked up my first 911; A1999 Carrera! I had a 986 Boxster in the past and I really enjoyed it. I am very excited to have another Porsche in the a garage. Low option car but it is a 6-speed and the price was right. At home for the first time Rear Interior With my 95 Viper RT/10

POST 2Original post

Congrats! Beautiful! Looks a lot like mine - low option black-on-black coupe FTW!!!

POST 3Original post

The only choice to own IMO Mine too is a '99 Black beauty...... Congrats!!!!

POST 4Original post

Congrats! Got all the black with ambers in the garage!

POST 9Original post

Two 90's icons in that garage. Congrats - enjoy in best of health!

POST 11Original post

I also sold off my Boxster to get with the 911 crowd.. always wanted one and it sort of fell into my lap. It arrives from BC in two weeks.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all! As much as I enjoy my Viper (which I bought 18 days after selling my 986), I was still missing the Boxster a bit. I wasn't exactly "looking" for a 911 at the time but when this one popped up locally I wanted to go see it. I'm quite "impulsive" when car buying as long as the deal is acceptable and I took it home. I got it out for a nice drive yesterday and it reminded me of all the things I enjoyed about my 986. Working around and growing up around American cars has been great and I still enjoy them deeply, but after getting into Porsche I realize what fantastic machines they are. Super happy with the car so far!

POST 13Original post

Beautiful car. I am highly biased as you seem to have the twin to my car. What build date is yours?

POST 14Original post

Congrats! Great to see another 996 in Wisconsin. I think we're a pretty small club.

POST 15Original post

for sure! those two cars couldn't be more different!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Weirdly enough, my build date is Feb. 1998. I find that strange since the paperwork I have on the car says 1999 (including the title and various VIN decoders).

POST 17Original post

Not weird at all. Cars made in 1998 were sold as 99 models. My 99 C2 has a build date of 7/98. Also remember it takes about 3 months to complete the shipping from Stuttgart.

POST 18Original post

Very nice compliment to that rocket sled you have. Enjoy!

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got a good, much needed coat of wax on the 911. I have put about 250 miles on the car and I find it very enjoyable. If anyone in the Chicagoland area needs a good Porsche shop, Silverstar Motorwerks has been great to me. I had them do some maintenance on my 986 and they are currently underway with the service on the 996. They work on a lot of euro cars and they have been very polite and great in personal connection and communication. Currently getting the A/C revived, the airbag light (seat belt receptacle) repaired alongside an oil change and inspection. I can't wait to get the car back!..

POST 20Original post

A low optioned 911 is my favorite 911. Less crap to break.

POST 21Original post

Beautiful car. You now have a scalpel (996) added to your sledgehammer (Viper). The 996 is a modern 911 with a hint of air cooled 911 feel. I miss mine.

POST 22Original post

The car looks great!! Of course...I am biased to black on black 996's as well!

POST 23Original post

Wow, rare early builds are awesome! Congrats on the purchase. I remember going from a 250HP 2000 Boxster S to a 99 300HP 996, and feeling the extra weight, extra power, and rear end felt a bit more planted than the Boxster. The mid-engined Boxster was easier to drive, more neutral handling, but the 911 rewards with a little better braking and if we have the courage to trail-brake, faster around the corners. Both great cars, but my kids get to come along with me in the 911, and they love our cute little Por-Shee. Congrats again!

mine is 3/98. Its funny at my local Porsche dealer where I have a parts hook up he always tells me is a 98, every where else it pulls as a 99. My hollow 408 wheels have a 993 part number. Plus I also saw a 4/98 993 coupe.

Hah Mine is Feb 18 1998! I guess someone fat fingered the ordering and entered two of them.

Extraordinarily well said. My sentiments exactly. These lightest versions of the 996 (coupe/6-speed/2wd) remind me A LOT of the early 70's 911e models, and that's the highest compliment I can give regarding a Porsche. The 996 has all of the "lightweight sports car" fun of the 70's 911, including high RPM peakiness (in the 996.1 at least), but with all the modern creature comforts and a lot more power. They'll be a day when the purest/lightest 996's are broadly appreciated for their driving excellence (not that I care even a little bit what anyone else thinks).

Yes. They did a great job servicing the car. They took care of the oil change, repaired the A/C system, and fixed the airbag light (driver's seat belt receptacle) and ordered a trim piece for a very reasonable price. They are about forty minuets from my house but they are the best option within a reasonable distance. Currently the car is getting tires installed at a local tire shop. Again, thank you all for the well wished and kind words. This seems to be a good forum with a great community!

POST 29Original post

Congrats and welcome! Looks very clean and love the color combo.
