Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. The convertible top used to open / close via holding down the dash button UNTIL I used the key in the door procedure to open / close the top and now the button just makes the dash light flash quickly (but the top doesn't open or close).

Meet some of them and probably youll find one that has a manometer, connect it to your oil fill while the car is running and hell tell you by the measure.

Regarding your cable for engine bay release watch the car wizard on YouTube he talks about the problem and also replaces the cable.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Still, I have a person pulling up on the hatch while I pull the hatch release lever still not releasing 🤬🤬🤬
Just bought a 2000 996 Cab with Tiptronic @ 32K miles. A few minor issues that I hope you can help me with:
1. I've owned the car 3 days. The convertible top used to open / close via holding down the dash button UNTIL I used the key in the door procedure to open / close the top and now the button just makes the dash light flash quickly (but the top doesn't open or close). It still opens / closes using the key in the door procedure so I don't think it's a mechanical issue. The owner's manual is pretty useless on this topic. Maybe a sensor or I need to reset something?
2. Sometimes the engine compartment hatch will not release using the lever inside the car. The cable may be too slack. Is there an adjustment procedure to tighten the cable pull?
3. Been reading up on the AOS. The car doesn't smoke on start up, etc, but I do have some vacuum present at the oil fill cap and the engine stumbles with the oil fill cap off... Is this a big problem that needs immediate attention, or can it wait to be done during the IMS replacement (already scheduled)?
Other than these relatively minor issues, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS CAR!!!
Oh, and I know it's NOT a GT3... that'll be coming off
Thanks!
I dont know. My 928 Hellbronze Euro isnt a slouch! Theres a better picture of it in the July edition of Panorama/ Editors Note. Its the 1st Hellbronze 928 on your right Werks Reunion at Amelia Island. 😎
Panorama.
The gold car. LOL.
Engine bay is OK too
Nice butt 😎
Back on topic 🤔.
Any way to adjust the pull cable for the engine bay release? Kinda stuck as I havent fished out the emergency cable pull yet ☹️
Whats up with the convertible top button flashing? I can hear a relay click (somewhere behind the driver) between the groups of three flashes. Anyway to reset it?
Congrats! Yeah, the 928 rear end is slick. Very unique and cool.
As for AOS being OK, it might be fine. My engine does the same (engine speed decreases and runs slightly rough). Best way to know is to put a vacuum gauge on that side and check.
A bunch of guys that have our cars are super knowledgeable. Meet some of them and probably youll find one that has a manometer, connect it to your oil fill while the car is running and hell tell you by the measure. Welcome to the club. Regarding your cable for engine bay release watch the car wizard on YouTube he talks about the problem and also replaces the cable.
There is no adjustment in the cable and i doubt it needs it. U can move the latch around in the car and the loop on the lid by just loosening the bolts. Also the rubber bumpers on either side extend to give some tension, just screw them out.
I just finished swapping a gt3 motor into a mk1 c2 and fitting the new engine cover was one if the most pita jobs of the swap. Just take yout time, make one adjustment at a time and make sure the emergance release cable is accesssible jic.
Aos testing takes a tool called a manometer. Many threads on this. The stumble when pullung the cap is normal and correct. As others have said spend the money now for the uaos while the motor is out.
Sorry cant help on the cab top issue, i have sunroof
.
Thanks for the insights... The GT3 poser tramp stamp came with the car... I haven't even washed it yet, but when I get to paint correction / detailing that stick-on is history. Thanks again!
Dj I was thinking of buying some gt3 cats with pipes cats are shot , so I was thinking of hollow them out and cut weld to install them in
my 3.4. Is that at all possible, and do you think it would be beneficial?
To start, the most important problem has been address- the GT3 tramp stamp is gone. 2nd: The deck lid pull is fine and is easy to access (if ever needed) but the deck lid strut is toast so it wont push the lid lock out of the catch when released - new strut ordered. 3rd: Apparently, this was also interfering with the deck lid micro switch and inhibiting the convertible top from actuating. Problems solved!!
