Suggestion

Turbo's use two gas struts because we have a ridiculously heavy hydraulic spoiler system.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2000 996 Cab with a TechArt GT3 spoiler installed on the deck lid. Needless to say it's a bit heavy. My car only has one deck lid strut (on the right) and it is D.E.A.D. I'm going to order a replacement strut, but will the standard deck lid strut suffice? Or, is there a stronger (higher weight rated) strut available that I should order instead? It's the little things that bother me... Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Turbo's use two gas struts because we have a ridiculously heavy hydraulic spoiler system. Perhaps you can install a 2nd on the other side.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Weeeeeelllll. I CAN, but involves drilling/tapping for a 6 mm bolt /pin. Guess Ill go with the stock strut and see if it will suffice.
