Trying to hunt down some rattles I get from I think the drivers side door area? As a means of troubleshooting, was thinking of taking the panel off and driving around a bit to see if noises are still there. Any reason that this may not be a good idea?

You'll have to disconnect the airbag to remove the door panel, and that will cause an airbag warning light. You'll need either a Durametric tool or a dealer reset to clear it.

Always disconnect the negative terminal on the battery and wait ten minutes before removing the airbag/door panel. It is possible to reconnect the airbag then reconnect the negative terminal of the battery without the door panel in. I did this when replacing a window regulator and testing the window before reinstalling the door panel. In this respect the airbag light should stay off and not have to be reset. But please be careful of the door panel airbag and driving the car temporarily!
