Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So. 2002 4S Turned on my AC nice and high and WOW! Little blacks, gray and white foam pieces coming out the vents and or stuck in the vents. Any ideas on what disaster or not I am looking at. Pretty much true for all of my vents top center console sides.

POST 2Original post

Common occurrence. It is the foam covering on a air blend/mixer door in the HVAC system. Not a huge deal - you can replace it to make your AC cooler. Several threads on this issue. Some guys have done the replacement recently and can comment about the difficulty.

POST 4Original post

I posted on this a few months ago. Have done nothing. It adds interest to your driving experience.

POST 5Original post

As stated above, the foam is normal. There are foam seals around the ducts where they connect the vents and over time they come apart and come through the vent. Here is a helpful thread about it on Rennlist with a link to a fix if needed.

My pleasure. Glad I could help.

POST 8Original post

Once the heater core is out you can see the blend door, right? Couldn't you just cover the door with duct table without removing it?

POST 10Original post

It goes with the territory, that's why it makes sense to have a tiptronic..so you always have a free hand to pick it off while driving.

Dude, silly question about using duct tape on your Porsche. Of course you can - it's duct tape.

POST 13Original post

I originally tried that with mine but there wasn't enough room to work. It's very easy and takes just a few minutes to get the flap all the way out. I recovered in foam and duct tape.
