Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use spare key' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust seats' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

He said he had trouble adjusting the seats after using my wife's key instead of mine(which automatically pushes the seat way forward).

I was thinking of disconnecting and checking the battery.

This would confirm the battery is good, and hopefully reset any unusual lock commands.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Loaned my 2001 C2 with 51k miles to my best friend to go only a few miles, then to my place back last week. He said he had trouble adjusting the seats after using my wife's key instead of mine(which automatically pushes the seat way forward). Otherwise no complaints. After he returned the car, I placed it, as usual, on the battery tender. This am, the battery tender looked like it had delivered a full charge.
When I went to pop the hood latch with the key ( I keep the lock mechanism for the hood depressed so as to inactivate the trunk light while the hood is partially open for the battery tender cable) it made a different sound, a double click like a lock/unlock sound. I closed the hood and went to start the car. Instead of the starter engaging or clicking (like with a dead battery), both windows went up and down a small distance repeatedly ( same distance as if you are opening and closing the doors). The check engine light kept flashing while the key was turned. Needless to say, the car did not have the starter turn over the engine at all.
Any clues?
Weak battery?
Blown fuse?
Inadvertent lock command or seat memory glitch?
I was thinking of disconnecting and checking the battery. This would confirm the battery is good, and hopefully reset any unusual lock commands.
Thanks
Well, I jump started, so it was a dead battery even though my Battery Tender gave me the green light. Battery is at least 3 years old so I will replace it. Any suggestions on type?
I believe the following occurred:
My friend used the spare key. This is programmed to move the seat forward and drop the right mirror down in reverse. When I got the car going today, the mirror was adjusting as if it were stuck. This may have somehow stayed active this last week, and put a drain on the older battery. I cleared the memory so it no longer controlls the mirror.
Keep fingers crossed it is that simple.
