Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
No, I wouldn't do it but, if you've got AAA Premier (200 mile tow) and you don't have another car or want to use another car to drive there, just be careful and do it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

So as the title says I need to drive way up North. I thought it might be fun to shoehorn some winter tires on and take the 996 but some friends are telling me it's a bad idea citing snow salt and overall rough on the car. Certainly lots of people put their cars away for the winter, Am I crazy to do this?

I have driven my c2 un the snow on all season tires. It did just fine. Expect stone chips and a dirty car so just detail it when u get home.. i say fo 4 it.
Uh, the car is a German car. AWD. Porsche. All-season tires? Maybe some proper chains for the frunk. Check! Are you comfortable driving up to Big Bear? Hit the road. Wash the underbody when you leave snow country. If you go to McCall, you might want winter tires. But if you’re going up to Coeur d’Alene/Pend Oreille area, all-seasons probably just fine.
That'll be a long drive but it's doable.
A lot of stretches of highway don't currently have snow on them. I'd go with winter tires, but all-seasons might be enough.

I moved from CA to Idaho a few years ago. The winters here are hard on the roads. From Boise to northern Idaho, you will be driving on a two lane highway. You will be dodging potholes, rocks, and lots of wildlife. Be careful and have fun.
I did this drive from Sacramento in my C2 in late Oct this year with my son. No snow but cold enough for it. Its 13 hours to Moscow but was a lot of fun. I missed the snow by 2 days. Summer tires and no chains. If I were doing it today, I would have different tires which is to say I would take our AWD CX9.
In winter?
