Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

While I agree they sound great at high RPMs, they are too loud for everyday use IMHO.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I wanted to post these 2 videos of the muffler delete I did this weekend. This may help to show anyone who's interested in doing this to their car what it sounds like. I find that the sound in person is even more aggresive than in the videos. That goes without saying but I really must emphasize that. At 2500 rpm and below cruising its not too loud but once you tap the gas it roars. My fear now is that it might be too loud but I have to see, I may just not be use to it. I will keep it in this configuration for a month or two and see if I get tired of it. I will go on a drive this week to get a better feel for it. In summary, if you are looking for more noise, I found that this takes it up not a notch but like 5 notches. I will update with some drive by vids this week. Thanks for reading! Too loud, either go Fister mod or purchase an actual muffler kit. Sounds 10000x better. There's an exhaust thread with the sounds from all types of options that's a good reference.

POST 3Original post

I had this on my '99 and at first I was like you but after a couple of months I removed it. The engine sounds like crap unless it's near redline and you can't drive like that on the street all the time. It droned on the highway and got old really fast.

+1 I've never tried muffler delete pipes on my 996 but I have toyed with the idea. While I agree they sound great at high RPMs, they are too loud for everyday use IMHO. Plus, the car sounds like a tractor at idle and low revs although this may be a plus given Porsche's lineage as it's getting back to the car's roots.

POST 5Original post

If anyone would like to try them...I have a set of FabSpeeds for sale that were on the car all of one day.

One day!? I was going to say that you hold a record for muffler delete pipes but I but some pipes only lasted a quick trip around the block before being replaced. What didn't you like about them, the noise level, drone, etc?

POST 7Original post

Muffler deletes were the single best dollar to smile ratio of any mod Ive ever done, which is kind of a lot. I spent like a hundred bucks on Amazon and couldnt be happier, the fact I didnt spend thousands on an exhaust is icing. They may not be for everybody, but I really dont get the part where people think they dont sound good at idle, I definitely do not share that opinion. The drone, yeah its there but for $100 and the growl for a car thats not daily driven... works for me. YT link in my sig has lots of driving with them on, putting around on the street talking to camera, spirited street driving and track stuff for anyone that may be on the fence. BTW, never had a car get more compliments on its sound as this one with the Amazon exhaust... go figure.

POST 8Original post

People can save their money and try the muffler delete for free. All they need to do is remove the bumper remove the mufflers and go for a drive.

POST 9Original post

That second video with the bumper off sounds amazing!

POST 10Original post

Any other engine mods? Or is that stock without mufflers?
