Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is the same one that was posted last week by DCP and then taken down. He has asked me to part it out for him so here it is. The engine and trans are in great condition 57,250 miles with an IMS upgrade bearing replaced at 41,855 so there are no worries there. This is an immaculate 996 that was always garaged and very well taken care of. The damage of the car actually happened when no one was in the car, so no Porsche owners were harmed. The car suffered mostly cosmetic damage to roof A,B,and C pillars, and the Rt rear quarter panel and engine deck lid. Asking $10,000 for 3.6 liter engine, plus shipping, and fees. Asking $4000. for 2003 6 speed trans, which does have some improved parts internal from Porsche over the earlier model cars. Many other great parts available. Litronic headlights, heated seat full leather interior, brake calipers, and much more. Please PM me here, I will be listing items here and some on Ebay. I'll be downloading video's of car running and driving, and plan on leaving both engine and trans in car so if eng / trans buyer wants to see it run in person they are able to. I also have access to lifts as needed if you are in Houston and want to see on lift or go for a ride up and down street. Lots of other items to remove in the meantime anyway. PM with questions, Thank you, Onefastviking

I bought this car in 2005 when it had 11,000 miles on it. I am happy to answer any questions about its history.

Very light bump from a vehicle while on frwy in traffic and while owner was out of car(996) exchanging info with driver of little rear bump, larger truck either lost control or didn't see him parked on shoulder of frwy and hit the car thus totaling it. Salvage value was purchased and now car is being parted out.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11649538

They are already spoken for to a friend of the owners.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FYI, it's a little dusty inside but I plan on removing interior later today I then I can take better pics if these are not clear enough for you. I will also be able to make sure the rt seat is undamaged and the condition of the headliner.

The truck hit the car in March. It took me this long to settle with the company that owned the truck. The car has been sitting on my trailer at an inside storage facility that is pretty dusty. I moved the car on and off my trailer one or twice a month.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The engine would be a great Boxster upgrade engine as well.

POST 25Original post

Hi Viking! I'd be interested in the exterior plastic panel that runs the length of the car at the base of the windshield. The windshield wiper arms come up through it. Also the plastic trim pieces that attach to the bumper just under the headlights. Just looking to refresh those pieces on the old race car.

POST 26Original post

Viking: I'd possibly be interested in the 4 brake calipers..... and pm sent

POST 27Original post

i need a motor! if only i had 10k lol , good luck with your part out! looks like it was a very clean car.

POST 28Original post

Viking: sent a pm a while ago, interested in the 4 calipers, please

Are these pieces available?

POST 31Original post

POST 32Original post

Peter: I installed a double din head unit, but I kept the CDR23, the CD holder, and the lower storage bin. Are those the things you want? Dayle

POST 34Original post

how are the front seats and how much? [email removed]

POST 35Original post

I'm interested in the leather shroud that goes over the gauge cluster, the plastic horseshoe on the center console (with our without all the switches attached), and the headlights. Are they still available? If so please PM me with your contact info as I just registered and can't send PMs yet. Thanks

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11703496

It is, also a 4 spoke tip wheel. 3 spoke already sold, thats my thrown down wheel so I can still move car around.

POST 37Original post

interested in drivers side front fender liner and air deflector. liner part number 996 504 123 03

POST 38Original post

Cuda911 just lost him motor...also an 03...his post is on this page as well.

POST 41Original post

If the engine is still available I'll probably buy it... Pretty bad when we have to buy a running engine to be used as a core, because all the others are blown up so badly! Email me [email removed]

Jake: Thank you for your interest. I am speaking now with someone interested in the engine. I need to give him a couple of days to decide. I will contact you if he decides not to buy it. Everyone: Viking is going to be unable to respond to inquiries for a few weeks. I will ask him to respond when he can get back to this task.

POST 43Original post

is the car still more or less in one piece? interested in the dashboard with the glovebox included. maybe some more fresher pics etc? also interested in the driveshafts/pedals/shifter+cables/clutch cylinders.

POST 44Original post

Quotes source post: 11848202

The car interior remains intact except for the steering wheel, but it will be a while before Viking can respond.

POST 45Original post

Aha, Riddler, I was thinking of you when I saw this - looks like all the stuff you'd need for your manual conversion. Good luck.

POST 46Original post

yeah, since the transmission confirmed to be an LSD one, all the pieces for the conversion really are needed now, there is no turning back

POST 47Original post

If the headliner is full leather I am very much in need.

POST 48Original post

I am interested in your engine if not sold looking to put it in a boxster 2005 . Do you know if that could be done easy?? I am looking to buy a low miles boxster with a dead engine locally Thanks in advance

POST 49Original post

I have a sale pending on the engine. I will get in touch with you if it falls through.

POST 51Original post

I would quit running the engine without the airbox/filter. Especially the spinning through rocks, dust, etc. Just not a good idea because its very easy to get something sucked in their. (low pressure area at rear)

POST 52Original post

Quotes source post: 11852780

Both of the Rennlist users who expressed an interest in buying the engine found other engines before I could get access to my car (long story). The bottom line, however, is that I now have the car in my possession and the engine remains available.

POST 53Original post

what about all the other pieces? no rush, but waiting a while already on the prices.

POST 54Original post

Quotes source post: 11883399

Sorry about that. An illness prevented earlier response. I will respond to everyone in due course now that I have the car.

Dayle, I'm still interested in the engine, but probably won't be making a decision for another week. Hopefully the engine is still available then, but I know these engines go fast!
