Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'minor (ish)' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'minor (ish)' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check date of the op' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If you don't want to diagnose teh problem and just throw parts at it plugs and packs probably the best parts to throw.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
33 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
On my way home this afternoon, stuck in traffic (cause they closed the 400) and all of a sudden the P car started to stutter and next thing you know the engine light started to flash. Pulled into a parking lot and turn the car off. Check the engineno smoke or smell. Turn the engine on again the light is still on but not flashing anymore. Drove home about 1km away like driving miss daisy, check the engine oil and it seems low with no leaks. Called Dom at Autowerks and he thinks its the sparks miss firing. I know it was about time to change them and hope that would be the quick and cheap fix.
When it rain it pores...2 Months ago the waterpump went and I posted a thread saying the P car is built like a tank. 100K on the odo and now I a little discouraged.
Any feedback on what could be the problem. Bringing car in tomorrow.
oh man, i guess mine is a ticking time bomb then, i am at 120K and at my 96k serive i was told my Coil Packs wernt looking to savy... They were Changed at 43K (that is what i was told) while getting CPO done (48K Service) before i picked up the car from Pfaff... i should probably Order and keep some
Flashing CEL likely due to engine misfires which can be coils, or plugs. Read and post the error codes if you want.
If plugs original then they can be due, past due. I've run plugs over 90K miles and while the tips looked a bit eroded the plugs worked ok. No misfires or any symptoms at all. I've never replaced coil packs on my car (and the OEM coil packs have 235K miles) but different areas of the country are harder on coil packs. I read in the UK Porsche car mags Porsche coil packs go bad rather quickly. Climate I guess.
If you don't want to diagnose teh problem and just throw parts at it plugs and packs probably the best parts to throw. Plugs at least are due and an inspection of the coil packs should confirm if they're due as well. If they're the cause of the misfires they ought to look due for replacement.
Or, spritz some water on the coil packs and see if engine acts up when you start it.
Sincerely,
Macster.
+10 on the coils packs.
Had the exact same experience with my car. 1st time when it came out of storage, then again in July. 1st time OBDII reader said misfire in cylinder 5. 2nd time it said misfire in multiple cylinders. Both time I cleared the code and it ran fine after. My research also pointed at coil packs. Planning on swapping out the packs and plugs first thing next spring.
these cars ARE built like tanks... try driving a normal car like these are driven... ive never seen another car that can hold up to the abuse.. rev a honda all day for 100k and it will be blowing smoke like mad.... dont lose faith. :-)

LOL! I'm reading along and Jake says, 400 shut down... I'm going, wow, yeah we had really shi$$y weather yesterday, snow, wet snow, mixed rain/snow - don't recall 400 shut down but there was an accident every minute across the west GTA so I figure - man if Jake was out in the P Car in that stuff - yeah the coils could well be acting up... and then I read 30C????!!!! WTF? It was -2 or -3 yesterday... Then I check the date of the OP
...
Guess the problem was solved by now.
