Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Nothing I hate more than finding a great car advertised with new tires only to find out the new tires the PO fitted are junk.
Leading evidence: 'Install are junk' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'correct color)' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install are junk' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You can have my immaculate 40th with full service, comes with standards wheels and a set of Black Victor Innsbrucks, brake discs and pads done 2k ago, oil changed every 3k, and I have all the filters to show no issues.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Long time lurker, first post. After many years of lusting after a 911, I am now in a position to own one. I have been searching for a couple months but came across a 40th AE this weekend. 69K miles, car came from out of state (Florida) with no service records. Car fax only shows annual registration and change of ownership (two prior owners).
Cosmetically looks great. I have concerns about how the car may have been maintained - assuming it will need a clutch soon, should consider a new IMSB, and front tires are shot.
Dealer is asking 29.9K. Run away or PPI?
At 30k I assume there are much lower mileage 996's out there or possibly a 997.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
TIA
If the car is in good shape, I think anything under $30 is good for a 40AE.
I'd caution you on the Florida title. Their registration laws are more lax than most other states, making it fairly easy to "wash" a salvage title, even for cars brought in from other states.
What's the registration history? Was it originally sold in another state? Are the bumper grills still painted silver? (I've seen wrecked cars with black grills because the body shop thought it was the correct color)
If all of that checks out, I'd say go for it.
As you mention, I'd consider the front tires more as an indicator of overall maintenance rather than worry about the cost of replacement tires. It never ceases to amaze me when people put cars up for sale with bald tires or bad driver's seat left bolster. These things are cheap and easy to fix, yet are some of the first things people notice. Like a big wart on a supermodel's nose.
I would rather take delivery needing tires and getting to choose them over what most people fit before selling. If it has new Kumhos, Sumitomos, Falkens or some other third world brand, I am going to have to spend the money to change them anyway. Nothing I hate more than finding a great car advertised with new tires only to find out the new tires the PO fitted are junk.
It would be a good price for perhaps the most desirable 996.
And some unsolicited first-time Porsche buyer advice... Assume you will have to spend $2K in the coming months to get the car mechanically and cosmetically straight. Budget that up front, and spend it without whining, and you will start off ownership on the right foot.
Good luck!
