Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Who needs a filter with this recommended change interval?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Im searching the old so those whiners can save their tears Maybe something new has come on the market or possible cheaper. The setup on this motor is the worst thing I have ever seen. I mean really!!!!
Id really like to fit a K & N on.
These motors run better if you just remove the filter and dont replace it. I tossed my filter 2 years ago when i got mine and never installed a new one. This way you get maximum oil pressure at all times. All the trash comes out after i change my oil every 12,000 miles.
Doesnt all this LN engineering stuff cost way to
much. Dont get me wrong. I dont like cheap sht but I dont like lining other peoples pockets with my cash.
Im comfortable right in the middle. Made right, made to last and priced with a fair mark up. If I had money to burn and could behave like I didnt care or a credit card abuser than fine. I pay with blood money. The kind you earn when you wake up and work 10 hours a day.
Sorry for the rant but I am not a fan of companies who give little and expect a lot in return.
Your over thinking this. Literally anything will work as a filter. Steel wool, brillo pad, sponge. I have even heard of people putting a shop rag in there and just washing it out every oil change. Cheaper the better.
Good point accept I change my oil more frequently
I try to follow Jakes advice and change oil quarterly or 500 miles whichever comes first

Problem solved
no no no sir. That is WAY too often. I was always told to smell the oil. If it dosent smell burnt and like fuel its still good to go. At $400 an oil change there is no way in hell im changing my oil more than once a year
I use a half roll of toilet paper. When my roll of Charmin (squeezably soft) gets to half roll, it fits nicely into the plastic canister..I'm very eco-friendly..
Me?? High Roller??? Nah,... but I never skimp on bung-hole paper....
It takes a real man to use that down to oil filter size after a "Taco Bell Night " ..
Toilet paper? I wouldn't use toilet paper. Here's my secret. What's great about this; is you can choose the right protection based on the anticipated flow rate. The color coding makes that decision easy. Since I do a lot of driving at night, this is my favorite. Their 3 month estimate is very conservative. I can make this package last all year!
Oh, and the flexi-wings really make them easy to install.
Drop the sump and put in some maxi-pads. For the oil galleries use tampons. That way you can filter the oil at strategic points throughout the engine and can even catch that pesky IMS debris early before it scores your crankshaft! You can buy them in quantity at costco or sam's.
(edit...Scott...looks like you and I were thinking the same thing at the same time...lol)
If you are cheap and must use toilet paper at least buy a Frantz Filter (yes...it's real)

Hey I never said I wasnt Brian. I changed my ID to something I like better.
Im not a troll either my questions and comments typically relate to Porsche.
In this case I am looking for an adapter that would be considered an upgrade in my opinion to the again in my opinion crappy oil filter setup on my 99.
I refuse to overpay. Im not afraid to say it. It looks like LN makes a high quality product. I just cant justify the cost.
I dont care if you like me or not. Im here for my car. As someone on here put it to me your not here to make friends. Thats exactly right. This is an great place for information especially in the search feature. I post to see if some of my inquiries have more current answers or products. Owning a 20 year old car means many years of experience have passed.
So to all the kiddies and computer heros I dont car about your comments. If you think Im rude then maybe its because your used to being stroked.
I agree with you...but, you never know. There are so many a$$holes in the world these days it's hard to keep up with them.
There are a few porcupines on every forum. The ignore feature is wonderful.
That's a fantastic idea - the K&N will provide at least 20 more HP and is widely known to quintuple IMS bearing life.
The easiest way to effect this change is to drill a 3" hole in the bottom of the oil sump and JB Weld the filter directly to the bottom of the plate. You may need to raise your 996 by 3-4 inches...well worth the inconvenience!
