Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This worked fine when I had my wheels with HTRZ3's on the car. When I swapped wheels to a different set (same sizes, same offsets) but running PZero tires that while nominally the same, physically are different sizes as compared to the HTRZ3's, I found that visually it worked MUCH better with the larger spacer in the front and the smaller space in the rear.

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have done a LOT of research and found a ton of opinions but they are mostly for NB cars so I am posting this to hopefully get some good advice. I have a 2002 996 C4S widebody with Techart wheels. 18x8.5 with an offset of 50 in the front (225/40/18 tires) and 18x 10.5 with an offset of 42 (295/30/18 tires) in the rear. I have stock C4S suspension which I recently rebuilt. I would like to install some wheel spacers to help fill out the wheel wells a little better and I thought this was a no brainer but after reading what seemed to be a bazillion posts on this concerning all wheel drive vehicles I am not sure what do , if anything. There appears to be some who think that offsets more than the factory specs for C4S vehicles will damage the all wheel drive. This news to me as I have been modding cars all my life and never heard of such a thing but I am open to new information. I would like to do 5mm spacers up front and 8mmm in the rear. Any thoughts ? And you have done this ( any spacer sizes)...a pic or two would be nice. thanks

POST 2Original post

I know that the AWD system is sensitive to wheel/tire diameters, particularly differences between front and rear wheels. I have not heard of AWD issues related to spacers.

POST 3Original post

Spaces should have absolutely no effect on the AWD system. AWD cares about different rotational speeds for the different axles. Pushing a wheel farther out in no way changes its rotational properties.

POST 4Original post

Whoever said that has no idea what the hell they are talking about, space all you want.

POST 5Original post

Factory spacers on 2003 C4S with Techo Twists rear were 17mm.

POST 7Original post

Also don't be shy about trying swapping the spacers around front to rear once you receive them. I know I have a narrow body so this may not be relevant to you at all, but I did all my research and was sure I wanted 7mm in front and 14mm in back.
