Nope, no difference. Feels smooth and a bit shorter than the 996 shifter.

Stock 996 vs stock 997, I don't think you'll feel much of a difference. For reference, I owned a 997.2 in the past and also tried a 997 shifter in my 996. I took it out and put my modded 996 shifter back in. The stock 997 shifter felt like a bowl soup in comparison to a 996 shifter with a short shift kit installed.

I have the 997 GT3 shifter with the aluminum bushings. I‘m very happy with it. I have a spare 997 shifter that I’m keeping to use in a future 996/986.
