If I ever do mine (I think my foam has been gone for a long time as I never had the problem of it coming out of the vents) I'm going to use foil tape...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My son's search for a 996 has focused on a nice example with less than 40K miles, and very clean. When the A/C was operated, white dust particles came out of the vents, so what can be sprayed into the system in order to stabilize what might be aluminum oxide from the evaporator? Where is the A/C drain on a 2003 911? UPDATE: he now adds that there are small chunks of what might be insulation. Is this something that won't go away no matter what?

POST 2Original post

Yup - more like foam from the mixer flaps in the air-handler. It's usually black or gray, but who knows - somebody might have "fixed it" with white foam... If I ever do mine (I think my foam has been gone for a long time as I never had the problem of it coming out of the vents) I'm going to use foil tape...

POST 3Original post

It will go away once it's all deteriorated and blown out. Very common on most all 18 year old vehicles. The drain goes out right side of center about where the center console compartment is.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, so not a terminal, expensive fix.....just treat it like dashboard lights on BMWs?

Regarding foam, you can ignore it, or: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ent-issue.html
