Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had my car out this weekend and jumped on it to get around slow traffic and after that my battery light came on and my volt meter dropped to 11 volts and the dash information display showed the Battery/ Generator no charge. Any one else have this happen? I was thinking alternator or regulator. Are these hard to replace by myself?

POST 2Original post

Also could be y-cable. The alternator is not too terribly tough to replace.

POST 3Original post

The voltage regulator is on the back of the alternator. If it were me, I would just buy a new Bosch alternator w/regulator off Amazon. Read up on how to remove the alternator, it can be tricky but not difficult.
