Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

IF you're just using it to check over-revs on prospective cars, I believe you can use the Durametric Enthusiast version on as many cars as you want.

What software is recommended for my 1999 996 C4 that will show over revs that have occurred with the car?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought a Durametric Pro to do diagnostics and it gives that data. There is also an enthusiast version, with the only difference being the enthusiast version has only three VIN uses. The Durametric only gives level 1 and level 2 over-revs (ignition events) for a 1999 model where level 1 is redline. I forget off the top of my head if "level" is the actual term. There are a max number of ignitions that it stores for level 1. I forget what it is, buy it correlates to about 3 minutes total at redline. My 1999 is maxed out in level 1 ignition events and has about three seconds total above level 2. The level 2 ignition events are more than 40,000 miles ago based on my cars history.
IF you're just using it to check over-revs on prospective cars, I believe you can use the Durametric Enthusiast version on as many cars as you want. There are a few features that don't require burning one of your VIN slots. To verify I'd recommend checking out the Durametric website or giving them a call.
Durametric all the way. There are also calculators that help you understand what you're seeing. Not all over-revs are automatically bad. A lot of it will depend how long ago they happened and how long (how many ignitions) the over-rev lasted. For example, when shopping for my car I learned that it had range 2 over-revs but they only totaled to less than a second and it happened more than 20k miles ago. If you're seeing something recent that lasted longer then I'd be concerned.
Yes....and no.
It does read the VIN at first use. Then you can check 2 other VIN's.
Then you go to their website and download the latest version. Uninstall the software (Durametirc), reboot, install the latest version and start all over. Do you get it?
There is a "free" report you can use on as many cars as you like. When you want to drill down into more detailed features it asks you if you want it to count against your 3 VINs. I'm pretty sure the over-rev numbers and trouble codes are included in the free one. At least this is how it was when I researched it, I can't say for sure it still applies but I'm sure Durametric can tell you.
Hi!
I dont want to highjack this thread but I was looking at over revs with Durametric.
Range 1: 8750
Range 2: 7
How it is possible?
My understanding is that theses numbers are the numbers of revs in the ranges?
