Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

is your car a c4s or c2? thx

POST 5Original post

Seb, The indentation on the strut looks correct for a C4/C4S pinch bolt. The 4 wheel drive struts have a removal spring perch that is not integral to the strut. The old strut you are using for a comparison looks like a C2.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

doug, i dont have that long stab link with my car... as you can see in my first picture, my stock strut comes with the spring seat/place but it is welded to the strut... my stock strut part number: 996 343 041 20 i confirmed with bilstein, i have to reuse my stock plate,

POST 10Original post

The stab link is what I included in the list. It connects the strut to the sway bar. PET shows the number you provided, 996.343.041.20, as a shock for a C2, not a C4. the shock number for a C4S is shown as 996.343.043.26 (coupe) or 996.343.043.29 (cab). The plate on the C2 shock is not removable. The one on a C4 shock is removable. When Bilstein says you have to reuse the stock plate I think they are assuming that you have the removable plate. What is the part number of the shocks you got from Bilstein. It would seem that somehow your C4S has C2 shock on the front.

yea, i know that i have the c2 struts on a c4s, pretty wrong i know... dont know why, got the car like that... my bilstein c4s front struts number is : vn3-5272, it does not come with spring plate and I confirmed with bilstein today, they told me to reuse the stock plates... obviously, i cant with those c2 struts, like you said, ( also they are welded) so what are my options? ps: my car as gt3 bars, and i have curved droplinks... thx a lot

POST 12Original post

Seb- Like Doug, I have my front struts left over when I went to the X74. I have the perches, bolts and nuts. Let know if you are interested in them and we can work something out.

POST 13Original post

The PO was a clueless tool.... Seb I would suggest that you buy Doug or Pete's parts. Both are very reputable 996 contributors. Alternately, you can go new, but for this part I would not hesitate to buy it used. Your car had the wrong suspension parts and you need to correct it to make sure that (1) it handle properly and (2) does not accelerate wear on other parts of the car.

Thanks for the plug. I don't want to horn in since Doug offered it up first. I'll be the 2nd option if Seb doesn't go thru Doug. Just trying to pass on the RL way and want to help.

POST 15Original post

Apologies Doug... I missed that part of your thread.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thx for all the help guys, i need the parts kinda quickly, the car wants to get out of the garage
