Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. The light on the dash ( I will refer to this as the cruise master light) comes on every time I turn the key on during the cluster self test. After the car is running and I toggle the switch sometimes it will come on (and the cruise will work) then after driving I notice the light is out I toggle the switch on the end of the stalk and sometimes It will not come on ( and the cruise will not work).
Leading evidence: 'Use info' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'pedal switches have no bearing' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Test .after the car is' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I suspect the pedal switches have no bearing on the light.

I don't think the problem is the switch on the end of the stalk because when the cruise master light is working I can cycle the switch repeatedly and get the desired results.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, My name is Trent I have been lurking here for a few months. I used info that I learned on this site to help me buy my first 911. I bought Gonzo's car.
Its a great car that has been wonderfully maintained. I am however having an intermittent problem with the cruise control.
I have done some research on this site and Most of the cruise problems stem from bad pedal switches or bad brake light bulbs.
What I am unsure of is the cruise master light affected by the pedal switches. In other words if I have a bad pedal switch telling the car the brake or clutch is depressed will that turn off the cruise master light? I don't think the problem is the switch on the end of the stalk because when the cruise master light is working I can cycle the switch repeatedly and get the desired results. when the cruise works it works for a day or two at a time and then dies for a day or two. I so far am unable to reproduce a situation that will make it start or stop working.
Any Ideas will be appreciated. I am looking for a place to start. I suspect the pedal switches have no bearing on the light. I'm guessing loose connection somewhere but not sure where to start looking.
PS all my brake lights work, and brake lights and cruise are on same fuse.
Thanks in advance
Trent
Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem (well at least the green Cruise Control light sometimes comes on and usually it doesn't).
I've read that it could be due to having LED tail lights... I have them.
You guys should check out this thread. It may be useful.

Welcome to 996 land Trent! You know you must post pictures of your car right? (even if it was Gonzo's). Thats the protocol anyway.
Cheers!
Do you have upgraded LED lights in the back? either main light or the third break lights (there is 2 of them/one on spoiler). If you do they might not be drawing enough current.
