When that did not improve the condition I cleaned the MAF using CRC MAF cleaner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I unplugged the MAF and kept it under 4000 rpm and the issue did not resolve the problem.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 996 Carerra 6-speed 72k miles and have been experiencing a slow to respond throttle and then surge in RPMs. Based on posts for similar symptoms, I cleaned the throttle body. When that did not improve the condition I cleaned the MAF using CRC MAF cleaner. This seemed to temprorarily resolve the problem for a day, however, I am now experiencing the surging issues intermittently again. I unplugged the MAF and kept it under 4000 rpm and the issue did not resolve the problem. I am looking for suggestions for futher testing/suggestions or thoughts that the MAF may still be the cause. Thanks in advance for your thoughts - Jeremy
