Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Newbie here with another newbie question. My convertible top used to deploy & retract using the dash button. I used the key in the door procedure to deploy / retract the top a couple of times and now the dash button doesnt work. The top light in the dash flashes four times in a row, a relay somewhere behind the drivers seat clicks, and the light cycles again - still no top movement, up or down. Funny thing is, it still works fine with the key so Im perplexed as to the cause of the dash button NOT working. Could the engine bonnet opened / closed sensor keep it from working when using the dash button? Or, could it be a bad relay? If so, where is it and/or how do I get to it? The owners manual is no help with this kind of fault. Any help would be appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Is the Parking Brake on? If so, maybe the parking brake microswitch is bad.

It is applied and the E brake light is illuminated and turns off when released. I dont think thats it, but Ill try the key method with the E brake off and see if there is a difference. Thanks and Ill report back. Anyone else have any experience with this particular fault?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well it appears it has fixed itself. Now, out of the blue, the dash switch works the top just fine. Intermittent faults are the most troublesome issues to track down. Something must be loose, corrosion on a relay or micro switch, etc. Frustrating ☹️
