Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm no mechanic, just a DIY'er, and replaced all of this last winter..

Clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing were both replaced both times.

Suggestion
With partial clutch pedal pressure, it might be putting some force on those components, and changing the type of noise coming from whatever is broken, but if the pressure plate is not fully seating the clutch to the flywheel, with good surfaces, then it will just slip, and quickly burn up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, I need collective internet help.
My 02 996 has gone through two clutches in less than 1000 miles. The pattern seems to start with a nasty squeak/squeal that is hard to pinpoint, but seems to be in the general transmission area. The squeal only happens under light load or with the clutch fully disengaged. Touch the clutch, the sound goes away. Then a rattle slowly emerges, and the squeal starts to fade. Then the clutch destroys itself.
Some background: the engine was rebuilt last summer. LN bored and relined the cylinders, all wear items were replaced, all worry items were replaced. I managed about 400 break-in miles before I had to ship it to Hawaii in October. Retrieved the car at the end of November. The squeaking started around the end of the year. Clutch was replaced in February. Now it's happening again, and nobody seems to know what the problem is. I've done all the normal internet searches, watched videos, but nothing quite matches my situation.
So ------ any ideas?
Who replaced the clutch and what else did they inspect or replace while the transmission was out?
I'm no mechanic, just a DIY'er, and replaced all of this last winter.. But, it seems that if the flywheel, or the pressure plate, throw-out bearing, or clutch slave cylinder were bad, then the clutch may not be fully engaging. With partial clutch pedal pressure, it might be putting some force on those components, and changing the type of noise coming from whatever is broken, but if the pressure plate is not fully seating the clutch to the flywheel, with good surfaces, then it will just slip, and quickly burn up.
Did they check or replace any of those other things?
I suppose it could also be an issue with the transmission input shaft or transmission bearing, but maybe that's plan B.
Clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing were both replaced both times. Slave cylinder ... I do not believe so, but there has been no evidence of slipping. When the last clutch failed, it wasn't from slipping - it shattered.
Oh, and the flywheel has not been replaced.
