Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Driving from St. Louis to Boulder to retire got caught in some snow during a move. Made a poor choice, and went through an automatic carwash to get the salt off but bent the rear wiper arm. So the Porsche Dealer puts a new wiper arm on the rear, but can't obtain a cap that fits over the base to cover the brass bolt. This has been going on for about 18 months now and I know it's not a huge deal, but have to believe Porsche still makes a wiper and cap that fits a 911 2004 C4S. Seems that a 997 arm, also fits on the 996, and Pelican list both arms and two different caps. Does anyone ever have the same issue? Not sure why they threw away the old cap. I like to keep my cars in good condition. The Dealer in Denver (Littleton) says Porsche doesn't make one that fits and has done all it could. I stated, "tell Porsche to send the wiper arm with the cap attached from Germany" and wouldn't the problem be solved? They don't seem to understand that one. I have been happy with the dealer and their service, mostly routine, but this "little thing' nags at me. I'm like George Constanza when he can't get his zipper undone on his coat.

POST 2Original post

Wow, I'm literally going through this right now. I'm missing the same piece [cover for the rear wiper bolt], so the dealer orders it for me. Once I get it, I put it on and it doesn't fit right. It just doesn't snap into place as a factory OEM piece should. Oddly enough I've read this same issue somewhere else. Maybe 6speed. If anyone has a solution, please post.

Thanks, the order catalog on the parts is messed up, either they are putting 997 wiper arms on and the 996 caps do not work, or another OEM vendor's arm that now makes the wiper. I went through it for a while with a tech at Pelican. Have to find a dealer who will send an arm and the cap already fitted before I blow another $200.
