Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Have used Porsche Centre Vancouver for plenty of small bits and have a great PCA-CWR discount.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Been avoiding the Porsche dealer service here in Vancouver in favor of independent mechanics but I just wrapped up my first ever service there and I have to say I am very impressed. I brought my 996 to them to diagnose a problem (clicking sound during acceleration/deceleration without braking, or downshift 3rd to 2nd). I thought it could be CV joint. My indy diagnosis was differential and rebuilt it to the tune of $1700 (still clicking after rebuilt). Anyhow, the Porsche service guys spent about 2 1/2 days diagnosing the issue and finally traced it to a rear control arm. Charge - only 1 hour labour (and fixed my exhaust tip rattle in the meantime)!.
Guess we don't have many Van rennlisters on here. Was hoping to hear about some of the other 996 owner's experience with service at the Porsche Center and how it compares to the indy shops around town.
Porsche Center was my go to place for years; I always got along great with Ray at the service desk from our days when I was into motorcycles and he was at Honda Motorsports. I never doubted his diagnoses on problems and he always took care of me. As the years have gone by and my car is pushing 14 years, I go to an indy in Richnmond for convenience and because labor costs were nuts at Porsche Center. But for newer cars, I'd definitely go there.
Cool. Thanks for the input guys! I dealt with Ray as well and was very impressed with his service. They do have a "Classic Porsche" discount now which includes the 996. Still expensive tho.
Those guys inspected my car prior to purchase. I had a bad experience with them. I will leave it at that. I bought the car and I am really happy. I would never use them again.

These guys. I would find someone else in the future if I have to deal in van. I am in Victoria and the porsche centre here is great.
Have used Porsche Centre Vancouver for plenty of small bits and have a great PCA-CWR discount. Have been servicing at Juan's in Richmond with great results. Juan's also did the IMS on my '04 C2 cab for the previous owner and the PPI on the car prior to my purchase. Their shop is only a couple of blocks from Canada Line so easy to drop off/pick up when going to the airport for a business trip or downtown Vancouver.
What kind of shop rates are we talking about for places like PCenter Vancouver, Juan in Richmond, etc, for our 996s?
I know Porsche Victoria's shop rate is $139/hr.
