Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

(Spoiler: the 996 is near the top of the list. Looks like values will be going up!
)
Is this The end of the depreciating 996 asset?
Happy we made the list but the write up leaves a lot to be desired.
"the Porsche 996 was largely considered a let down due to lower build quality, reliability issues and its unfavorable design."
- spit up coffee all over my computer screen again
This is good news and no big surprise - the 996 is currently one of the best bargains out there.
"Unfavorable design" ??? I like it so much I have two of these beasts.
Part of this is driven by the fact that they have become affordable for college kids to get into and with the internet, hype them up and modify them to eventually gain a cult status/followers, and thus creating more demand/desire amongst other enthusiasts new/old.
I also noticed non-M e30's going this route too along with CRX's.
I love it. One day, jalopnik posts an article saying the 996 is crap and everyone calls jalopnik a joke. Now they praise the 996, and they are a credible source.
for christs sake people, if you like the car, then stop worrying so much about what magazine, website, internet pundit or whatever thinks. sheesh
You choose to believe that the 993 was the last real 911, I choose to believe that the e30 was the one and only true M3.
For many of the same reasons too
If u followed the link to the 996 Turbo article..
this made me laugh
"Now, let's talk styling. No, the 996 isn't the most attractive car in the world. But when you go home tonight, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself:
Am I the most attractive human in the world?
Of course you aren't. You're probably mediocre. You're probably in the bottom 50 percent, overall. In fact, and I don't mean to be disrespectful here, but let's face it: there's a good chance that
you are the 996 of mankind
. Suddenly the car's flaws don't seem so bad now, do they?"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I don't believe that at all.
I bought an 08 911.
A 911 is a true 911 if porsche says it is. also, I couldn't care less if the junk I have is a REAL 911 or not.
I wouldn't say "amazing" but it was still a great car nonetheless or else I wouldn't have owned 2 of them. Still have my e30 M3 though but it is more of a museum piece now...
I don't give a rats *** what ANY magazine , blog, or whatever says.
I love both my 996 and my Boxster.
They are both beautiful fun cars, headlights and all, that run circles around most of the other cars on the road.
If you don't like it, go pound sand
